What happens to our Internet accounts when we die? All our data, our emails, our photos uploaded on Facebook, our chats on WhatsApp?
This book answers all these questions. Davide Sisto, a researcher in Theoretical Philosophy and an expert in Thanatology, makes a journey in a world where biological death and digital death are united. When our body dies, our digital life continues. We are still on the infinite web.
Unless previously given instructions, passwords provided to a trusted person, everything still remains alive and throbbing, and we can still interact, albeit unilaterally. Already now, in many cemeteries, it is possible to add a QD code to the tombstone to connect with the FB page of the dead or a site specially created by family and friends to remember it. Even more, in advanced laboratories, avatars of the deceased person have been created, loading all its data and creating a sort of hologram that speaks, responds, thinks like her or him.
Considering these very futuristic outlooks, in the future it will also be important to regularize and legislate on these cases, which will become more and more numerous.
A very interesting book, it opened a window to me about a world I didn't know and allowed me to reflect on how closely our physical life is connected to our digital life.

Death is social

I am a 37 year old woman who has never had any real desire to become a mother. Just the idea makes me close to the unpleasant stomach.
Like all those who have taken the same decision, I would be rich if I had a euro for every time someone told me "Look, then you'll regret it." My next thought, however, is: "What if, however, my feeling is right and then rather regret having done so, because I realize that I really have no desire to be?"
This sociological study deals with this later. Of women who had a child and after they realized that really is not what they wanted. That them to be mothers are not cut.
Their statements, their fears, their desperation, I understand them fully. Why they are the same things I say and I could say. The naturalness of being mothers, the fact that there will be no repentance, isn't truth at 100%. You cannot play with your life. And with the life of an unborn child.
Even more so after reading this book I feel I have made the right decision.
A book, however, recommended not only to women like me. But also all those who once in their lives put motherhood on a pedestal. It's not sure. It's not easy. It's not for every one.

Regretting motherhood

Eh, cara Alice, tanto. Tanto.

She was in the shadow, at Gertrude Stein's side, but not less important. Friend, lover. And even cooking expert. French cuisine, for example, full of rules but famous all around the world.
But, for what concern myself, recipes are the majority but there is something else very interesting. There are many references to their daily life in France, their friends, their trips, war. It's the portrait of two dynamic women, full of interests, who appreciate life. Two women who create bonds with people of any social class, nobles and servants.
And, about people they spend time with, some curious facts come from the recipes. Many of these report Fernanda Pivano's name, friend of them, and, among the others, Cecil Beaton. While the famous Baudelaire's cookies, actually, the French poet didn't create those but are called so from one of the ingredients... I let you discover which one!
So, a source of news and curiosities about one of the most famous couple in literature world. "As a cookbook has something to do with writing", Alice wrote in the last page. Eh, my dear Alice, a lot. A lot.
