E per quanto non conosca bene lo scrittore e abbia letto due anni fa una sua raccolta, la differenza salta subito all'occhio, come il riconoscere la sua penna e il suo stile.
Belli i primi, con i suoi soliti temi e i suoi personaggi. C'è un'aura di voglia di ricominciare, di fare la cosa giusta, in esistenze monotone e povere. Quelli giovanili tendono a essere più crudi, soprattutto "Gli aficionados", e più "costruiti", come se poi Carver avesse trovato la sua vena stilistica e non avesse più avuto bisogno di tutta quella impalcatura.
Bella lettura, intensa. Una lezione su come si costruisce un racconto.

The second collection of stories I have read by Carver. The first was the super famous What we talk about when we talk about love.
This is special because it is a collection of the latest stories, published only after his death, and early youth experiments.
We have the reconstruction of a literary time frame.
And although I don't know well the writer and have read his collection two years ago, the difference immediately jumps to the eye, like recognizing his pen and his style.
Beautiful the first ones, with his usual themes and his characters. There is an aura of desire to start over, to do the right thing, in monotonous and poor existences. The youths' one tend to be more raw, especially "The aficionados", and more "built", as if Carver had found its stylistic vein and had no longer needed all that scaffolding.
Beautiful reading, intense. A lesson on how to construct a story.
