Lasciatemi parlare subito del titolo italiano di questo libro, perchè così mi tolgo subito questo sassolino dalla scarpa e poi posso fare le mie lodi sperticate.
Ma vi pare normale tradurre il titolo originale "How to be a Woman" con questo titolo????? Innanzitutto, come direbbe Santa Betty White, "Why do people say grow some balls? Balls are weak and sensitive. If you wanna be tough, grow a vagina. Those things can take a pounding." Quindi risparmiateci questi titoli perché noi siamo già molto tough di nostro!

Concluso il pippone iniziale su quello che compare in copertina, parliamo di quello che questo libro contiene.
L'ho totalmente adorato. Caitlin Moran è meravigliosa! Simpatica, vera e con un sacco di aneddoti fantastici sulle celebrità che incontra per lavoro. La storia su Lady Gaga è qualcosa di epico!
Moran racconta la sua vita, la sua crescita come donna, i problemi che ogni donna affronta nella sua vita, e lo fa attraverso il suo personalissimo punto di vista, come lei li ha affrontati. Dalla masturbazione al matrimonio, dall'avere figli all'invecchiare, dai primi amori al Vero Amore. Il suo stile narrativo è esattamente come lei, schietto e sincero, nessun abbellimento e nessuna bugia.
Consigliatissimo a tutte, vi farà divertire e vi farà riflettere.

Let me speak immediately of the Italian title of this book, because so I can immediately remove this pebble from the shoe and then I can make my praises.
But do you think it's normal to translate the original title "How to be a Woman" with the title "One needs a pair of balls to be a woman"????? First, as Saint Betty White would say, "Why do people say grow some balls? Balls are weak and sensitive. If you wanna be tough, grow a vagina. Those things can take a pounding." So spare us these titles because we are already very tough of our own!

Concluding the initial big deal on what appears on the cover, let's talk about what this book contains.
I totally loved it. Caitlin Moran is wonderful! Nice, real and with a lot of fantastic anecdotes about the celebrities she meets on business. The story about Lady Gaga is something epic!
Moran talks about her life, her growth as a woman, the problems that every woman faces in her life, and she does it through her very personal point of view, as she has faced them. From masturbation to marriage, from having children to growing old, from first loves to True Love. Her narrative style is exactly like her, frank and sincere, no embellishment and no lie.
Highly recommended to all, it will entertain you and make you think.

La lettura di questo libro deriva dalla mia passione per qualunque cosa riguardi la regina d'Inghilterra, anche un romanzo molto leggero come questo.
Se dovessi esagerare ed utilizzare un termine letterario, classificherei questo romanzo come una distopia ovvero, cito da Wikipedia, una rappresentazione di uno stato di cose futuro che presenta situazioni e sviluppi sociali e politici altamente negativi. Probabilmente è una definizione un po' esagerata per questo romanzo, ma possiamo anche lasciarlo qui con la specificazione che è una esagerazione.
Siamo nell'aprile del 1992, in Inghilterra si sono appena svolte le elezioni che hanno visto trionfare il partito repubblicano, e la prima iniziativa del nuovo Primo Ministro Jack Barker è l'abdicazione della regina e l'abolizione della monarchia. Da questo momento, la regina e tutta la sua famiglia devono abbandonare Buckingham Palace e vivere come comuni mortali. Come reagiranno a una vita senza servitù e senza soldi la regina, la regina madre, Margaret, Carlo e Diana? Come interagiranno con persone di classe sociale umile?
Ci sono delle pagine davvero divertenti, soprattutto quelle che riguardano il principe Carlo che è probabilmente il personaggio meglio descritto e con la miglior storia. Devo ammettere che invece altre pagine le ho saltate a piè pari, per una certa inconsistenza.
E' un romanzo molto leggero, adatto per qualche ora di divertimento. Scritto bene, ironia inglese non manca.
Nella realtà, sono molto contenta che non possa succedere mai!

The reading of this book derives from my passion for anything that concerns the Queen of England, even a very light novel like this.
If I were to exaggerate and use a literary term, I would classify this novel as a dystopia or, I quote from Wikipedia, a representation of a future state of affairs that presents highly negative social and political situations and developments. It is probably a somewhat exaggerated definition for this novel, but we can also leave it here with the specification that it is an exaggeration.
We are in April 1992, the elections have seen the Republican party triumph in England, and the first initiative of the new Prime Minister Jack Barker is the abdication of the queen and the abolition of the monarchy. From this moment, the queen and her whole family must leave Buckingham Palace and live like mere mortals. How will the Queen, Queen mother, Margaret, Charles and Diana react to a life without servitude and no money? How will they interact with working class people?
There are some really funny pages, especially those concerning Prince Charles who is the best described character with the best storyline. I must admit that instead I skipped other pages for a certain inconsistency.
It's a very light novel, suitable for a few hours of fun. Written well, there is no lack of English irony.
I am very happy that it can never happen in real life!
