sociologia

Bauman è morto all'inizio del 2017.

This short book of less than 50 pages is the speech that Zygmunt Bauman, sociologist, had in Cagliari during "Leggendo Metropolitano" in 2016. Bauman died at the beginning of 2017. I would kick myself because I didn't attend it, but being the idea not so nice, I opted for something more rational: I went to the bookstore and bought this short book. Thank you, Castelvecchi!
It's an important speech, but written so that it's easy to understand even for who knows little of sociology.
Concepts explained clearly, our social life explained clearly.
The main concept is that, to be happy, we have to look over the screen of our pc and phone. Real human relationships, not those virtual, are the road to happiness. Social networks, the "reality" of Internet is made by superficial contacts, not real ones. More, in social medias, we can "choose" the people we interact daily. Real life is different. We don't choose our classmates, our colleagues, even who we fall in love with. But, and this for me is the most beautiful concept in the book, we can choose to be happy.
I've chosen to buy this book. Bauman created in less than 50 pages a little world of happiness.
A book full of concepts but simple at the same time. To read and re-read, keeping it on the night table.
(And without kicking yourself.)

It's better to be happy

We must not keep speaking about "femminicidio". Never letting go without speaking about all women killed because "No" they told to their partners, boyfriends, husbands. Everyone that decided to live     autonomously and for this reason set free the irrational and insane men side.
This book makes us thinking, informs us. Elements on the percentage of how many women have been killed by their men. How many women suffer violence. Let us thinking about how much the idea of Love as a feeling of complete possession is deeply in our cultural history, in movies and songs and books. This is the most unreasonable side of "femminicidio", we almost find an explanation in killing for love, but these two words are in intense opposition. If we think that the "provocative" woman is the reason, that she asked for it, this is a part of that way of thinking. We have to begin from this awareness.
Michela Murgia and Loredana Lipperini speak about "femminicidio", from facts, in a journey between cultural references, true stories, the way of thinking of women and men. A must read, because we never talk enough of these subject.

Where are the men? How much time every woman has pronounced this sentence? When there are hard works to make in the house and them, instead of helping, are in front of a screen playing with the Playstation. When we look for a partner to love and what we really find are kids to take care of.
The picture of men in these years is something really depressing. Incompetent, missing, far from those icons of virility and manhood just in books and movies. Women roll up theis sleeves and started to build a new strong and independent identity. Are we the new strong sex? On the face of it, I'll say yes. I don't want to be right but I think I have to give up.
Finding yourself in the experiences told in the book is predicted. Because everyone has met a man loke those. Because, aside from some exceptions, the street is upward. As the author tells at the end of the book, men have to deal with this situation, talking and adapting to a new world, to a new way of recounting and being. Women are waiting for them, they are there for new men.

In quanto...
Non è poi così difficile, no?

I suggest this book... no, more, I would like to make it obligated reading for everybody at least once a year. In the world of today, where everybody thinks just for itself and nobody cares about being kind, a bit more of kindness would be useful to live better.
I don't telling about being slave of everyone, ma being able to a sympathetic and civil relationship with people around us.
The book is a study about kindness and the way it grows in humans from the birth. I discover that a lot of people I know, what concern the kindness-factor, are stuck at 5 years old, not being able to understand the importance of being nice with other people. Because, as the book says: "People is unkind not just because they can't talk well, but because they don't care about other people feelings. In "normal" people, the rudeness handles more with detachment or the real wickedness than the ignorance of right words or appropriate activities." If a person is unkind and rude, it's not that it doesn't know how to do, it's just that it's wicked and emotionless. I would like to have this concept bright in my head in the past...
As to... "The courtesy is a universal phenomenon and suitable for all, once past the childhood. It's a elaborate and refined human ability, but extraordinarily satisfyng, when you decide to use it. For human beings, courtesy and kindness are easy, easy as smiling."
Not so difficult, isn't it?
