Questo libro mi è stato regalato per Natale da una persona di cui mi fido ciecamente, per quanto riguarda i gusti letterari. E quindi non è stato sorprendente per me che questo libro mi sia piaciuto!
La storia parte con la decisione di una coppia sposata di separarsi. La morte del figlio adolescente ha dato il colpo finale a una coppia che già di per sé aveva problemi a stare insieme, una moglie molto spontanea e un marito che ama programmare tutto. Già dall'inizio ho avuto la prima sorpresa: ero convinta che la storia sarebbe continuata dal punto di vista di lei. Invece, il protagonista di questo libro è lui, Macon, scrittore di guide di viaggio per gente che viaggia per lavoro, e persona incredibilmente ordinata e precisa. Sembra quasi ci sia una divisione nel mondo, tra i Leary, ordinati e precisi, e il resto del mondo che lo circonda, spontanei e molto disordinati. Un mondo esterno che farà breccia in questa famiglia, e che porterà lo scompiglio necessario a una vita movimentata e piena di affetto. Ho davvero apprezzato la scelta originale dell'autrice di raccontare la storia dal punto di vista di Macon, di come certe sue rigidità si sciolgano in parte. L'unico neo, se proprio devo trovarne una... Ecco, prima una nota personale. Diciamo che, senza esagerare, ho ritrovato molto di me stessa nel personaggio di Macon. Anche io sono abbastanza precisa e ordinata... E sicuramente una persona più spontanea potrebbe aiutarmi a uscire da un certo guscio. Però... La controparte di Macon in questo libro è forse un po' troppo "spontanea"!! C'erano dei momenti in cui pensavo avrebbe avuto bisogno di un calmante! E quindi, se devo essere sincera, non era totalmente credibile per me che Lui potesse essersene innamorato. Un po' meno di spontaneità forse sarebbe stata meglio, almeno per me!

The first book in 2015, finished exactly at 14:35 in the First Day of the Year, just to be precise and highlight the moment!
This book was a Christmas present from a person who I trust blindly, in the matter of literary taste. So, it wasn't surprising I like this book!
The story starts when a married couple decides to divorce. Their teenager son's death gave the final shot to two people who already had an hard time together, an instinctive wife and an husband who loves too much organizing everything. In the beginning I had a big surprise: I was pretty sure the story would being told by her point of view. Instead, the main character is him, Macon, writer of guidebooks for people who travels for work, and incredibly precise and neat man. Looks like there is a sharp-cut division in the world, between the Leary's family, precise and neat, and the rest of the characters, spontaneous and disorganized. The outside world that will find way into this family's heart and will bring the necessary confusion to a lively and lovely life.
I really appreciated the original choice of the author to tell the story from his point of view, how his inflexibility tries out for another person. There is only one small imperfection... Well, first, a personal note. Without go too far, I found a lot of myself in Macon. I'm very precise and neat too... And definitely a more spontaneous person would help me to go out by my shell. But... Macon's counterpart in this book is maybe too much "spontaneous"!! There were moments when my thought was "She needs a sedative"! So, to be honest, it wasn't so plausible to me his love for her. At least for me, a little less spontaneousness would be maybe better!
