Cosa è successo in America? Come è possibile che il paese delle libertà, dell'innovazione, un paese potente e rispettato, sia diventato questo posto oscuro dove un sessista, razzista ed ignorante businessman è diventato il Presidente degli Stati Uniti? Alan Friedman analizza quello che è il paese di Trump, i suoi problemi già presenti ma su cui l'attuale inquilino della Casa Bianca ha caricato il peso da novanta, come l'assicurazione sanitaria (portata via a migliaia di americani con la revoca dell'Obamacare), le armi (l'NRA si è sfregato le mani alla vittoria repubblicana) e la disparità delle classi (l'uomo bianco e ricco diventerà ancora più ricco grazie a lui).
Ne esce un quadro davvero devastante, un'America già con i suoi difetti, esacerbati da un uomo che in sè raccoglie tutte le caratteristiche che NON dovrebbe avere il Presidente.
Mi sono arrabbiata da morire leggendo questo libro, contro quest'uomo ottuso, viziato ed egoista, e contro tutti coloro che l'hanno votato e che ancora lo sostengono.
Non capire l'importanza di un'assistenza sanitaria per tutti, il pericolo della libera circolazione delle armi, sono temi su cui non si dovrebbe nemmeno discutere, e per quanto mi riguarda solo il fatto che ce ne sia uno è troppo.
La mia America, ma soprattutto la mia Washington DC (scusate, ma lì ci ho lasciato un pezzo di cuore) meritano molto di più di questo.

The result is a truly devastating picture, an America already with its flaws, exacerbated by a man who in itself collects all the characteristics that the President should not have.
I got so angry at reading this book, against this obtuse, spoiled and selfish man, and against all those who voted for him and who still support him.
Not understanding the importance of health care for all, the danger of free movement of arms, are issues that should not even be discussed, and for me only the fact that there is one against is too much.
My America, but above all my Washington DC (sorry, but I left a piece of my heart there) deserves much more than this.
