Questo a prima vista può sembrare uno di quelli. Invece, la signora Sykes è diversa. La protagonista è Sylvie, sposina fresca del bell'Hunter. Lei e le sue amiche, tra shopping sfrenato e vacanze lussuose, non se la passano mica male. Ma non tutte sono così gentili come sembrano e il doppiogioco è sempre in agguato.
Il motivo per cui mi piacciono i suoi romanzi è che racconta vite molto diverse da quelle di una comune mortale, ma si legge tra le righe che lei quella vita la conosce davvero. I rituali, le mode, i pensieri, è una finestra sul bel mondo delle socialites americane, uno sguardo attento ai dettagli. E' un romanzo divertente e intelligente. Perfetto.

As probably you had notice, if you follow this blog a little bit, is that I don't really like romance novels and chick lit. They are silly
and unnecessary, a complete waste of time.
This one, on a first sight, looks like those. Instead, Mrs Sykes is
another world. The main character is Sylvie, young bride of the charming Hunter. Her friends and she, spending their time in unrestrained shopping and luxurious days off, are definitely well off. But not every woman in this novel is nice as she looks and the double faced play is under the corner.
The reason why I love her novels is that she tells life pretty much different by a "normal" girl's one, but you can read between the lines that she actually knows well that life. Rituals, trends, thinking, it's a window above the golden world of American socialites, an attentive look on details. It's a funny and smart novel. Perfect.
