E' una lettura molto interessante, certo non un discorso fluido, ma una serie di riflessioni sul mondo del 1998 che comunque arricchiscono.
Amo Saramago dalla prima pagina di Cecità. Qui è meno potente e spaventoso. Ma la mente di Saramago è sempre degna del nostro tempo di lettura.

Published posthumously after the author's death in 2010, Saramago's diary covers the year in which the Portuguese writer won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1998. It must be said that the prize awarded by the Swedish Academy is not the key point of this book. It is just mentioned on the day of the win, a series of "bureaucratic" urgencies are recorded after the win (several press conferences, interviews, the visit to the Swedish Academy, the day when the prize is materially given to him) but the prize itself and the feelings of the prizewinner are only discussed at the end of the book, where obviously dominates the speech given on that occasion. But there is much more in this book. There are several very important pages on literature, on the European Union, on democracy. The thinking of Saramago reported by himself, not what appears from the novels, however great they are.
It is a very interesting reading, certainly not a fluid speech, but a series of reflections on the world of 1998, which in any case enrich.
I love Saramago since the first page of Blindness. Here it is less powerful and frightening. But Saramago's mind is always worthy of our reading time.
