Non posso proprio dire che il titolo di questo libro non sia accattivante. Credo di aver iniziato a leggerlo proprio per quel motivo, e vabbè, é primavera, anche per le farfalle in copertina. Però alla fine, per quanto si parli di epicureismo, credo che la filosofia di Epicuro non sia quell'edonismo che molto spesso ci viene in mente quando lo nominiamo. No, anzi, lui parla di essere felici senza che i nostri bisogni inutili prendano il sopravvento. Che un pasto semplice può essere alla stessa altezza di un pranzo cucinato dai migliori chef, se solo noi sapessimo essere felici. É quasi un accontentarsi delle piccole cose, niente droga, sesso e rock'n'roll come invece saremmo portati a pensare. Tutto quello di cui abbiamo bisogno sono saggezza, onestà e giustizia. Sono con questi nella nostra vita saremo felici. Mica facile, lo ammetto.
La mia massima preferita, forse perché mi trovo nella situazione di tanti trentenni italiani ancora non indipendenti, é questa:
"Il maggior frutto dell'autosufficienza é la libertà." Una libertà, nel mio caso, tanto anelata, un bisogno primario. La mia chiave per la felicità.

"It's easy to be happy, if you know how to do it"... We would love it! I must admit, the title is very captivating. I think I've started to read it because of it, and well, it's spring, because of the butterflies in the Italian cover. But at the end, as far as we talk about epicureanism, I don't think Epicurus' philosophy is actually that kind of edonism we think about. No, he rather talk about being happy without our worthless needs take over us. A simple food can be equal to a food cooked by the best cooks, if only we know how to be happy. It's being satisfied with little things, no drug, sex and rock'n'roll. We need just wisdom, honesty and justice. These in our life and we will be happy. I admit, not so easy.
My favourite quote, maybe because I am one of the many thirty-year-old still living with my mum, is this: "The greater outcome of self-sufficiency is freedom." A desired freedom, for me, a basic need. My key for happiness.
