Fin da quando scoprì le storie di fantasmi, Le Fanu è sempre stato uno dei miei prediletti. Sarà perché è irlandese, quindi cresciuto e alimentato di quella letteratura, ma come lui pochi mi creano quell'ansia e quella fascinazione per la storia raccontata.
Quindi quando la casa editrice Abeditore, famosa non solo per un catalogo dedicato a storie horror e al fantastico ma anche per una cura grafica altissima, ha deciso di pubblicare questa storia, non potevo essere più felice.
Lady Margaret, rimasta orfana di padre, viene affidata a uno zio con un passato un po' misterioso... rassicurata dal fatto che il padre non l'avrebbe affidata a lui se non fosse stato assolutamente sicuro della sua scelta, va a vivere nella casa dello zio. Ma forse, qualche verità quelle voci dal passato ce l'hanno e in casa dello zio potrebbe non essere così protetta come credeva.
Letto in una sola serata, letteralmente divorato e amato. Sentivo l'ansia crescere andando avanti con le pagine, adoro quella sensazione di quando il cuore batte e il mondo attorno è annullato, ci sei solo tu e il libro, come ritrovarsi in quel castello, con quei personaggi e temere per loro, ma non vedere l'ora di sapere cosa succederà...
Ho bisogno di leggere subito qualsiasi altra cosa scritta da questo incredibile autore.

Ever since I discovered ghost stories, Le Fanu has always been a favorite of mine. Maybe because he is Irish, therefore raised in that literature, but like him a few of writers can create that anxiety and fascination for the story.
So when the Abeditore publishing house, famous not only for a catalog dedicated to horror stories and the fantastic but also for a very high graphic care, decided to publish this story, I couldn't be happier.
Lady Margaret, orphaned of her father, is entrusted to an uncle with a somewhat mysterious past... reassured by the fact that her father would not have entrusted her to him if he had not been absolutely sure of his choice, she goes to live in uncle's house. But maybe, those rumors from the past have some truth and in her uncle's house she might not be as protected as she thought.
Read in one evening, literally devoured and loved. I felt the anxiety grow going on with the pages, I love that feeling of when the heart beats and the world around is canceled, there is only you and the book, how to find yourself in that castle, with those characters and fearing for them, and looking forward to knowing what will happen...
I need to read everything else written by this amazing author right now.
