Lui è Fausto Brizzi, scrittore e regista di film come "Notte prima degli esami", lei è Claudia Zanella, attrice e naturopata. E vegana. Anzi, come ha detto proprio lui al loro primo appuntamento, "vegana vegana". Lo stesso alla fine del quale lei gli ha detto "mi piaci, peccato che morirai presto". Ma lui è un ottimista, ed è andato avanti.
Oltre ad essere un ottimista, è anche un masochista. Anzi, masochista masochista.
Lei è una dittatrice. Oltre il limite dell'arroganza e del rispetto reciproco, non solo gli ha vietato carne e latticini, ma gli impone di seguire il suo stile di vita in tutto e per tutto. E se sgarra, soprattutto quando lei non c'è? Viene punito con giornate di digiuno o altre amenità simili. Che, per quanto mi riguarda, già è una punizione sufficiente stare con una così.
Sono davvero indecisa su chi dei due sia il più insopportabile. Lei è davvero senza scusanti, ma lui è peggio di uno zerbino. Non so quante volte durante la lettura mi sono chiesta: "Ma quand'è che si decide a mandarcela a quel paese e a dirle di chiudere quel suo stupido becco almeno per una volta?"
Lui è totalmente, completamente, assolutamente ridotto al niente. E' completamente nelle mani di lei, non ha più alcun tipo di potere decisionale su niente. E se questo è davvero un quadro esaustivo della loro relazione, spero per la sua salute mentale che si decida a svegliarsi e a rendersi conto di essere imbarazzante.
Come leggevo su una vignetta dei Peanuts, Lucy si chiede "Ma quanto diventa scema la gente quando si innamora?". Tanto, amica mia, tantissimo.

I was very curious to read this book, I started when I saw an interview of the couple at an Italian show.
He is Fausto Brizzi, writer and director of movie like "Night before exams", and she is Claudia Zanella, actress and naturopath. And vegan. Actually, as he said during their first date, "vegan vegan". The same date at the end of what she said "I like you, but I'm sorry you are going to die soon". But he's an optimist, and went on. More than being an optimist, a masochist too. Actually, a masochist masochist.
She is a despot. Beyond the limit of arrogance and mutual respect, not just ban by his diet meat and dairy products, but impose a different lifestyle too. And what happens if he makes mistakes, especially when she is out of town? He is punished with days of fasting or other similar pleasantnesses. In my opinion, is already a punishment being in a relationship with this woman.
I'm really uncertain about who is the more annoying of these two. She is without excuses, but he is worse of a doormat. I've lost the count of how many times while reading I thought: "But when the hell he decides to tell her to buzz off and shut up that stupid mouth at least for once?"
He is so totally, completely, absolutely reduced to nothing. He is powerless, under her control. And if this book is a thorough picture of their relationship, I hope for his mental health that he wakes up soon and realizes how much he is embarassing.
