Libro regalato, quindi finché non l'ho preso in mano non avevo idea che fosse una raccolta di racconti invece di un romanzo. Ma è comunque roba uscita dalla penna di Marquez, quindi sempre apprezzabile.
Delle sette storie presenti, la mia preferita è sicuramente la prima, titolo e protagonista "Un signore molto vecchio con certe ali enormi", storia magica e realista allo stesso tempo. Così come L'annegato più bello del mondo.
La storia che dà il titolo al libro racconta la storia di Eréndira, condannata dalla nonna a ripagarle con la prostituzione e il contrabbando i danni da un incendio causato accidentalmente dalla ragazza. Sarà una vita di fughe e ritorni, in un'atmosfera che potrebbe ricordare La strada di Federico Fellini, tranne per il fatto che al posto del circo al centro della scena c'è la tenda della ragazza costretta ad accogliere uomini in cambio di denaro... dettaglio da niente!
Sono storie nello stile di Marquez, quello del realismo magico, ma condensate in poche pagine. Tanti tocchi più o meno leggiadri, sempre magici, sempre realistici. Marquez, ma non devo certo dirlo io, è un genio nel condensare il tutto riuscendo a renderlo sempre come se potesse succedere davvero, quasi normale. Una normalità speciale.
Quattro stelle perché non tutti i racconti mi sono piaciuti allo stesso modo, anzi, devo ammetterlo, quelli centrali li ho trovati anche a tratti noiosi... (lo so, eresia, ma dovevo dirlo!)

This book is a present, so until I picked it up I had no idea it was a collection of short stories instead of a novel. But it is still stuff by Marquez's pen, therefore always appreciable.
Of the seven stories, my favourite is certainly the first, title and protagonist "A very old gentleman with certain huge wings", a magical and realistic story at the same time. As well as The most beautiful drowned in the world.
The story that gives the book its title tells the story of Eréndira, condemned by her grandmother to pay her back, with prostitution and smuggling, the damage caused by a fire accidentally caused by the girl. It will be a life of escapes and returns, in an atmosphere that could recall Federico Fellini's The Street, except for the fact that instead of the circus at the center of the scene is the girl's tent forced to welcome men in exchange for money... little detail!
They are stories in the style of Marquez, magical realism, but condensed into a few pages. Many touches more or less graceful, always magical, always realistic. Marquez, but I certainly don't have to say it, is a genius in always managing to make it as if it could really happen, almost normal. A special normality.
Four stars because I didn't like all the stories in the same way, indeed, I must admit, I found the central ones sometimes boring... (I know, heresy, but I had to say it!)
