Sapete tutti quanto amo Shakespeare, e ancora di più i suoi lavori teatrali più storici. Ancora di più, il fatto che di certi personaggi conosco poco, come per esempio Enrico IV. E ho trovato molto interessante la sua storia, narrata in due parti in questo dramma storico.
La prima parte è centrata sui temi della ribellione dei nobili gallesi e scozzesi al re Enrico IV, contrari al re, che accusavano anche di non essere degno del trono in quanto usurpatore del trono del suo predecessore, Riccardo II; la situazione porterà alla battaglia tra i de schieramenti, con la vittoria inglese. D'altro canto, il re è preoccupato anche dalla vita dissoluta del principe Hal, Principe di Galles ed erede al trono, che passa le sue giornate tra grandi bevute e divertimenti, accompagnato da personaggi come Falstaff.
La seconda parte sviluppa l'ultimo periodo di regno di Enrico IV e la sua morte, con la preoccupazione della successione a Enrico V. Il giovane infatti, dopo la guerra con i ribelli scozzesi, è tornato alla sua vita fatta di bevute e divertimenti. Sul letto di morte, il re dà l'ultimo consiglio al nuovo re: mai più guerre civili, spostare gli eserciti fuori dall'Inghilterra. Inizia il regno di Enrico IV.
In entrambe le parti, uno dei personaggi principali è Falstaff, protagonista di vere e proprie sottotrame, in cui si sottolinea il suo carattere vanaglorioso e di dubbia moralità.

Even if they are two books, I decided to reviewing them together. After all, the subject is the same, the title is the same.
You all know how much I love Shakespeare, and most of all his historical plays. I don't know so well any characters, as for example Henry the Fourth. And this story is very interesting, narrated in two parts.
The first one is about the rebellion of Scottish and Welsh nobles to the King, who they accuse of not being worthy as his predecessor's throne's usurper, Richard the Second; this situation will lead to a battle between the two fronts, and England will win. Otherwise, the king is worried by Prince Hal's immoral life, Prince of Wales and Heir of the Throne, who spend his days drinking and having fun, along with not so trustworthy characters like Falstaff.
The second part tells about the last period of Henry IV's reign and his death, and the concern of Henry V's succession. The young man, in fact, after the battle with the Scottish rebels, is back to his careless life. On his deathbed, the King gives his last advice to the new King: no more civil wars, move the military expeditions out of England. The reign of Henry the Fifth begins.
In both parts, one of the most important characters is Sir John Falstaff, protagonist of actual plots, in which Shakespeare highlights his boastful and immoral nature.
