Diciamo che, per quanto mi riguarda, c'è riuscito a metà.
La maggior parte delle cose narrate è storia conosciuta da tutti, anche se è stato comunque interessante approfondire le tesi di Lutero, la figura del papa Borgia, le Crociate, il ruolo dei papi come mecenati di artisti. Ci sono poi molti capitoli dedicati a tutto quello che ruota intorno alla figura del Papa: le proprietà del Vaticano, le guardie svizzere, Castel Gandolfo, la costruzione del Vaticano. Molto interessante il capitolo sull'Archivio Vaticano, uno dei più segreti al mondo e quindi, per quanto mi riguarda, uno degli argomenti su cui sono più bramosa di notizie!
Pochi cenni sui papi recenti e solo la menzione nella lista degli eletti per Papa Bergoglio.
Una storia di questa figura e di tutto quello che lo circonda. Insomma, un libro interessante ma forse mi aspettavo qualcosa di più, qualcosa di davvero segreto.

More than religion in itself, I'm more interested in History of Religions. And this book promised to let me find out some more details on one of the most important religious figures in the world: the Pope.
Let's say that, for me, it succeeded in half.
Most of the things are known by everybody, although it was still interesting to deepen the Theses of Luther, the figure of Pope Borgia, the Crusades, the role of the popes as patrons of artists. Then there are several chapters dedicated to everything that revolves around the figure of the Pope: the property of the Vatican, Swiss guards, Castel Gandolfo, the building of St. Peter's. A very interesting chapter about the Vatican Archive, one of the most secret in the world and so, for me, one of the topics on which I was most eager of news!
A few notes about the recent popes and just the mention in the list of elected for Pope Bergoglio.
A story of this figure and everything that surrounds it. In short, a good book, but maybe I wanted something more, something really secret.
