Devo dire che mi hanno un po' spiazzato. Chissà perché me li immaginavo molto diversi. Credevo che lo stile di Murakami fosse più "zen", più introspettivo. Invece... Beh, il protagonista e l'amico Rat sono molto materiali. Birra, donne e flipper. E poi, varie conversazioni in cui escono riflessioni più profonde sulla vita. Oddio, niente di particolarmente originale, se proprio devo essere sincera. Molte frasi da quotare nei siti di citazioni. Insomma, mi aspettavo altro da lui che non fosse un romanzo su un tizio che parla con i flipper.
I personaggi più interessanti dei due libri sono sicuramente le due gemelle del secondo volume. Un po' surreali, quasi delle apparizioni, vanno e vengono da non si sa dove.
Insomma, per ora Murakami non mi ha affascinato. Ma sono i suoi primi due lavori, e probabilmente non aveva ancora trovato la sua cifra stilistica che l'ha reso uno degli autori più venduti di questi anni.

Having never read anything by Murakami I was a bit uncertain about which book to read for first. Did I have to start with the book everyone suggests me (Norwegian Wood) or follow a chronological schedule? Hard to say... But since then I didn't want to see me in the same position each time and then decide what to read, I decided for the chronological way. Follow the stylistic evolution of the author. And so, here I am after the first two books read. I put them together because, unlike the other ones, Murakami had some scruple to let them being published in the rest of the world. Fortunately, now we can read them.
I must admit they floored me. Who knows why in my mind they were so different. In my imagination Murakami's style was more "Zen", more introspective. But... well, the main character and his friend Rat are material guys. Beer, women and pinball. And the, various conversations when the reader can find deeper considerations about life. Well, not so original or groundbreaking, to be honest. A lot of quotes, good for Tumblr and Wikiquote. I wanted something more by him than a novel about a guy who talks WITH pinball machines.
The most interesting characters in the two books are for sure the twins in the second one. A bit surreal, almost an apparition, they go and come from nobody where.
So, for the time being, Murakami didn't enthrall me. But these two are his first novels, and probably he had not yet found his signature style that made him one of the most widely best selling author of these years.

Di Murakami ho letto solo l'acclamato Norwegian Wood, che ho odiato come pochi. Più che giapponese mi sembra molto succube della peggiore cultura americana.
