Nunez, per un incidente, finisce nel paese dei ciechi, da lui creduto solo una leggenda. Arrivato credendo di poter facilmente soggiogare quelle persone, finisce per rendersi conto che invece per sopravvivere dovrà essere come loro, e che quello che lui crede essere un vantaggio, in realtà, è la sua più grande debolezza.
E' stata una lettura che mi ha lasciata un senso di angoscia, un senso di pericolo. Il picco viene raggiunto più o meno a metà del racconto, quando il diverso diventa come preda di caccia, in quanto diverso, in quanto non capito da chi ha una "visione" limitata.
Abbandonare se stessi per diventare come gli altri? O no?
Poche pagine, tanto significato.
La mia prima lettura di Wells, che rimandavo da tanto e mi è capitata per caso. Di certo, non l'ultima.

Short story, not even a hundred pages. One reads in a very short time but, to be honest, remains much more in the head.
Nunez, by accident, ends up in the country of the blind, believed by him only a legend. He arrives believing that he can easily subjugate those people, he ends up realizing that instead to survive he will have to be like them, and that what he believes to be an advantage, in reality, is his greatest weakness.
It was a reading that left me with a sense of anguish, a sense of danger. The peak is reached more or less in the middle of the story, when the different becomes a hunting prey, as different, as it is not understood by those who have a limited "vision".
Abandon yourself to become like others? Or not?
A few pages, so much meaning.
My first reading of Wells, which I had been postponing for a long time and it happened by chance. For sure, not the last one.
