E' stato uno di quei libri di cui ho sentito tantissimo parlare quando è uscito, si sono spesi elogi come "magico", "meraviglioso" e "incredibile" pur toccando il tema della pandemia. Non potevo non essere curiosa di leggerlo!
L'assemblea a cui sono chiamati a partecipare tutti gli animali della terra si svolge in un luogo che loro conoscono ma che tutti gli umani invece hanno dimenticato. L'incontro ha il carattere dell'urgenza, bisogna porre subito un rimedio alla crisi ecologica nel mondo. Al giaguaro è dato il compito di cominciare a parlare, facendo il punto di una situazione che ha colpito tremendamente ognuno, dal più piccolo al più grande, dagli abitanti del mare, agli uccelli, ai mammiferi e tutte le specie... E l'ape regina e il koala, portatori di testimonianze dirette. La decisione finale è irrevocabile: colpire il principale responsabile: l'uomo. Come farlo? Usando un'arma che mette insieme le ali degli uccelli e il corpo dei mammiferi: il topo con le ali, il pipistrello. Insomma, avrete già capito fin troppo bene... un'epidemia.
La cosa più bella e interessante di questo libro non è solo questo dare la voce agli animali rispettando le loro unicità (o quanto meno quelle che noi crediamo loro abbiano) ma soprattutto le mille piccolissime citazioni letterarie presenti nel testo, comprensive dell'intera letteratura mondiale, dagli antichi greci ai contemporanei, da Omero a Shakespeare fino a Edgar Allan Poe e Daniel Pennac. Sono tutte riportate in una lunga lista alla fine e viene quasi voglia di ricominciare il libro da capo per ritrovarle e riscoprirle.
E' insomma un interessante esperimento letterario con un tocco di magia e una sorpresina finale che non dico per non rovinare la sorpresa e invitarvi a leggere questo libro.
Rimane la speranza che tutti noi impariamo a rispettare sempre di più la natura e ricordarci che siamo tutti parte di questo grande pianeta, there is no planet B e trattarlo bene vuol dire un futuro migliore sia dal punto di vista ambientale sia dal punto di vista della salute, perché pandemia e crisi ecologica sono strettamente collegate, non solo in questo libro ma nella realtà.

It was one of those books that I heard a lot about when it came out, praise such as "magical", "wonderful" and "incredible" while touching the theme of the pandemic. I couldn't help but be curious to read it!

The meeting has the character of urgency, it is necessary to immediately fix the ecological crisis in the world. The jaguar is given the task of starting to speak, taking stock of a situation that has tremendously affected everyone, from the smallest to the largest, from the inhabitants of the sea, to the birds, to the mammals and all species... the queen bee and the koala, bearers of direct evidence. The final decision is irrevocable: strike the main culprit: the man. How to do it? Using a weapon that brings together the wings of birds and the body of mammals: the mouse with wings, the bat. In short, you have already understood all too well... an epidemic.
The most beautiful and interesting thing about this book is not only this giving a voice to animals while respecting their uniqueness (or at least what we believe they have) but above all the thousand very small literary quotes in the text, including the entire world literature, from the ancient Greeks to contemporaries, from Homer to Shakespeare to Edgar Allan Poe and Daniel Pennac. They are all listed in a long list at the end and you almost want to start the book all over again to find and rediscover them.
In short, it is an interesting literary experiment with a touch of magic and a final surprise that I don't say so as not to spoil the surprise and invite you to read this book.
The hope remains that we all learn to respect nature more and more and remind ourselves that we are all part of this great planet, there is no planet B and treating it well means a better future both for the environment and for our own health, because pandemic and ecological crisis are closely linked, not only in this book but in reality.
