La trama di questo romanzo è quasi surreale. Nel paese di Manaure, si è appena svolto uno sfarzosissimo matrimonio, tra lo straniero Bayardo San Roman e la bella Angela Vicario. La mattina dopo, i fratelli gemelli di Angela, Pedro e Pablo cercano Santiago Nasar per ucciderlo. I due non fanno niente per nascondere le loro intenzioni, anzi, praticamente tutti gli abitanti del paese ne sono informati. Pur sapendolo, per un motivo o per l'altro, per noncuranza o per impressioni sbagliate, pur incontrando Santiago non lo avvertono del pericolo.
Il libro ripercorre, in un tono da detective story, l'intera mattinata, gli spostamenti di Santiago e dei vari abitanti del villaggio, la prima notte di nozze dei due sposi. Scopriamo così che i gemelli uccidono Santiago per motivi d'onore, legato alla sorella Angela, di cui in realtà non viene accertata in alcun modo la veridicità, lasciando comunque un dubbio nel lettore.
Continuo a consigliare a me stessa e a chiunque la lettura dei libri di Marquez, la sua scrittura così fluida e potente, lascia nel lettore la pienezza di un talento potente e unico come il suo.

I have dedicated my summer to the novels of Gabriel Garcia Marquez. In my opinion, their South-American settings are perfect for this season and, more, his writing lets go me a lot. It is evocative, almost magical. Even when, as in this book, there is a murder.
The plot of this novel is almost surreal. In the town of Manaure, a magnificent wedding has been just celebrated, between the stranger Bayardo San Roman and the beauty Angela Vicario. Next morning, the twin brothers of Angela, Pedro and Pablo look for Santiago Nasar to kill him. The twins don't even hide their intentions, on the contrary, almost every resident of the town knows these. But even if they know them, for a reason or another, for casualness or wrong impressions, even if they meet Santiago they don't warn him of the danger.
The book recalls, such as a detective story, the morning, the Santiago and other people's moves, the first night of wedding. We discover that the twins kill Santiago because the honour of their sister Angela, but the truth is never verified, leaving the reader with a doubt. I keep suggesting myself and everyone the reads of his books, his writing so flowing and powerful, he leaves in the reader the entirety of a powerful and unique talent as it is his talent.
