Una prima parte introduttiva, con un quadro (appunto) generale di introduzione, e poi una serie di capitoli dedicati allo studio di singole opere d'arte con protagoniste donne che leggono, per le varie tipologie di lettrici che cronologicamente sono state rappresentate nell'arte.
Un libro bello, come può essere solo un libro d'arte, e molto interessante.
Non mi sono mai ritenuta un'esperta d'arte e per me, fruitrice abbastanza media, la maggior parte dei dipinti e dei pittori sono abbastanza sconosciuti. Due o tre assolutamente famosi, come Vermeer, e alcune protagoniste altrettanto conosciute come per esempio la marchesa di Pompadour ritratta in tutta la sua pompa magna.
Un libro per gli occhi più che per la mente, ma comunque interessante.

An art book, a book about the art of reading.
A first introductory part, with a general picture (of course) for introduction, and then a series of chapters dedicated to the study of individual works of art with female protagonists who read, for the various types of readers that are chronologically represented in the art.
A beautiful book, as it can be just a book of art, and very interesting.
I have never considered myself an expert in art and for me, a fairly average user, most of the paintings and painters are quite unknown. Two or three absolutely famous, like Vermeer, and some equally well-known protagonists such as the Marquise of Pompadour portrayed in all her pomp.
A book for the eyes more than for the mind, but still interesting.
