Valutazioni dopo la mia personale lettura: sicuramente merita tutto il successo che ha avuto. Olive è un personaggio bellissimo. Intelligentissima, perspicace, una che capisce perfettamente le persone al primo sguardo. Forte, fortissima, di quella forza che spesso all'esterno viene scambiata per rudezza e snobismo. Una che non chiede mai scusa, o meglio, lo fa a modo suo.
Intorno a lei, la popolazione della cittadina, tutti in qualche modo collegati a lei e in cui ha lasciato un segno; Henry, il marito, sempre gentile e premuroso, ma l'unico che la capiva davvero; Christopher, il figlio amatissimo e l'unico che la ferisce davvero.
Il mondo di una donna semplice e comune, ma che si rivela il centro della vita di un intero paese. Pilastro per se stessa e per tutti loro.
Una lettura davvero bella.

I've read this book moved by the curiosity, every review was so positive that was impossible for me not being interested.
Thoughts after my personal reading: for sure it deserves the success it has. Olive is a beautiful main character.
Super smart and shrewd, one who perfectly understand someone with just a glimpse. Strong, very strong, that strenght that usually from the outside has been mistaken for roughness and snobbery. She never apologizes, or better, she does it in her own way.
Around her, the little town's population, everyone in someway linked to her and in which she left a mark; Henry, her husband, always kind and thoughtful, the only one who really understands her; Christopher, their beloved son and the olny one who really hurts her.
The world of a common and simple woman, but who is the center of the whole town. Column of herself and everyone else.
A beautiful reading.
