Per le prime 50 pagine, questo libro mi è seriamente piaciuto. Pensavo l'avrei divorato nel giro di un giorno. Invece poi, andando avanti con le pagine, mi si impossessava una specie di stanchezza morale. I protagonisti sono sicuramente giovani, tristi e intellettuali, ma dopo un tot di pagine passate in loro compagnia ti verrebbe voglia di dirgli "e fatti un bel piatto di spaghetti e basta!". Alla fine, risultano pesanti e il libro diventa pesante perchè loro lo sono.
Ci spiega perfettamente cosa vuol dire essere un giovane maschio (bianco presumo) di circa trent'anni nell'America di Bush, ma dopo un po' questa nomea di "impegnati" crolla per la noia.
Probabilmente un libro che ho iniziato con troppa foga... e finito con troppa lentezza.

This review causes me some problems. I'm uncertain on many things, and maybe write my thoughts in here will help me to bring my ideas into focus.
For the first 50 pages, I really liked this book. I was sure I was going to finish it in just one day. But then, going on with the reading, I felt victim of a sort of moral boredom. The main characters are young, sad and intellectuals, but after many pages with them you would like to yell them "take it easy and stop whining!" At the end, they are very dreary and the book too because they are. It explains us exactly what means being a young (white, I think) man, about thirty years old, in the America of Bush, but after a while this reputation of "active" is replaced by the boredom.
Probably a book I started with too much heat... and finished with too much slowness.
