In a moment of whole honesty, I am here telling you a secret of mine: in my dreams, I live like one of the members of Bloomsbury Group. Living and discussing about art and literature, in a community of kindred spirits, people who share the same aesthetic ideals and spend the days discussing and living them. What a wonderful world!
And, if I could switch my life with that of anyone, my first option would be Virginia Woolf's. Such a gorgeous woman, what a mind, irony, brilliance!
This is a period of time I am reading her essays, short stories and novels that I haven't yet read and I am totally in love. She is gifted with this irony, this intelligence, and mixing them together make me in love suddenly. She is brilliant, that brilliance that doesn't come from studies, but from what a person is, from the place where she lives.
This little book is an addition to Mrs Dalloway. The characters are the guests at a party in the Westminster's house, and everyone is pictured in a breathing space. Looking at a painting or strolling in the garden or just removing a thread by his trousers, the mind goes and express the truest part of each of them.
These short stories are just a first hint of what will be the completed novel, but already here the reader can appreciate the big talent of this woman. For me, she is one of the best, ever.
