Una scusa in effetti ce l'ha, è infatti uno dei primi lavori del Bardo e, quindi, probabilmente non aveva ancora raggiunto la maturità degli altri lavori.
Pene d'amor perdute è stato definito una commedia, ma non ha il lieto fine tipico delle commedie, un matrimonio tra i protagonisti. In questo caso, il lieto fine tipico è rimandato di un anno, e noi non sappiamo se poi sia realmente avvenuto o no.
La storia parla di sentimenti e della loro conquista, di uomini che stipulano il patto di non cedere ai sentimenti e alle debolezze della carne durante i loro tre anni di studio. Patto mandato all'aria dall'arrivo della principessa di Francia e delle sue damigelle. La forza dell'amore contro la forza dell'intelletto? Beh, direi che comunque, a leggere i dialoghi veloci e intelligenti, la cultura si difende bene.
Commedia carina, arguta, ma meno scorrevole rispetto alle altre, un po' più pesante. Prova ne sia il fatto che per la prima volta in vita mia sono andata a dormire senza aver finito di leggerla. Sarà il primo segno che la mia relazione con William sta avendo i primi problemi? Non sia mai!

For the first time in my life, I'm afraid I'm going to give less than five stars to my beloved William. But I must to do it, because my sense of honesty, and this play is not as the other ones.
Well, there is an excuse, it's one of the first plays of the Bard and so, maybe, he hasn't yet reached maturity of the last plays.
Love's Labour's Lost is defined "comedy", but it doesn't have the happy ending of the comedies, the wedding of the two main characters. In this case, the classic happy ending is postponed of one year, and we will never know if it really happened or not.
The story tells about feelings and the power of men on them, men who make a deal of not surrender to feelings and body weaknesses during three years f studies. Deal broken by the arrive of the princess of France and her ladies. The power of love against the power of culture? Well, reading the smart and fast dialogues, culture stands up for herself pretty well.
Nice comedy, smart, but less flowing than the others, a little heavier. For the first time in my life, I fell asleep without finishing it. Is it a sign of fate that my relationship with William is in trouble? Never!
