Un'altra cosa che faccio spesso è andare a cercare più informazioni sul libro e sull'autore su Wikipedia. Capirete che non lo faccio prima perché non mi cada l'occhio su eventuali spoiler. Ebbene, la storia di questo libro é molto triste. Infatti, queste furono le ultime pagine scritte dall'autrice prima di essere deportata ad Auschwitz come ebrea. Il romanzo, infatti, sarebbe dovuto essere più lungo, ma non riuscì a completarlo.
Le due parti di cui é composto sono molto diverse tra di loro. La prima racconta della fuga dei parigini dalla loro città sotto attacco. Possiamo vedere le differenze delle varie classi sociali nell'affrontare il momento. I ricchi borghesi come i Perichaud, gli importanti intellettuali, i piccoli lavoratori come i signori Michaud. La bontà e la forza dei piccoli contro la grettezza e le furberie dei ricchi. La seconda parte invece racconta di un piccolo paesino francese in cui vengono insediati dei soldati tedeschi. Piano piano questi ultimi entrano nelle vite degli occupati, ma non ci sarà mai vera amicizia. Tra la protagonista Lucille e Bruno potrebbe scattare un amore... Ma le divisioni sono un ostacolo insormontabile.
Il libro é davvero bello, scruta fino in fondo l'animo delle diverse persone in clima di guerra, di fronte alle avversità, quando ognuno é davvero se stesso. Mi sarebbe piaciuto poter leggere le altre pagine... Un'altra piccola cosa, rispetto ai milioni di vite, che la Seconda Guerra Mondiale ci ha tolto.

This novel was yet another confirmation that, when I leave a book for a while, when I take it I finish it in a few days. It began in March, left for a while and now... Finished in a few days.
Another thing I often do is go looking for more information on the book and author on Wikipedia. You will understand that I don't do it before because of any spoilers. Well, the story of this book is very sad. In fact, these were the last pages written by the author before being deported to Auschwitz as a Jew. The novel, in fact, should have been longer, but could not complete it.
The two parts of which it is composed are very different among them. The first tells of the flight of Parisians from their city under attack. We can see the differences of the various social classes in dealing with the moment. The rich bourgeois like Perichauds, the intellectuals, the young workers as the Michauds. The goodness and strength of the small against the meanness and cunning of the rich. The second part tells about a small French village where German soldiers are settled. Slowly the latter enter into the lives of the inhabitants, but there will never be true friendship. Among Lucille and Bruno could be a lovestory... But the divisions are an insurmountable obstacle.
The book is really nice, scrutinizing the mind of several people in a climate of war, in the face of adversity, when everyone is really himself. I wish we could read the other pages... Another small thing compared to the millions of lives that the Second World War has taken away.
