Sapevo che sarebbe stato triste, e lo é stato. Anne Philipe è la moglie dell'attore Gerard Philipe. Il loro é un grandissimo amore, coronato da due figli e da una casa in campagna, luogo che entrambi amavano particolarmente. Poi, in meno di un mese, tutto viene stravolto. Gerard ha un cancro al fegato, viene operato, muore. Questo libro é il racconto della loro storia e della sua morte. Breve come un sospiro la loro vita nella vita del mondo, ma anche la malattia, il tempo che hanno potuto trascorrere insieme prima della fine. Gerard non seppe mai che stava per morire. Anne decise di non dirglielo per rendergli più tranquilli e sereni gli ultimi giorni. Dovette mostrargli il viso sereno di sempre, per la prima volta dovette mentirgli.
Ed improvvisamente, era sola. Il pensiero di lui onnipresente, ma con il tempo Anne impara a non abbandonarsi al dolore, ma a ricordare il suo grande amore con tenerezza, ma con nostalgia. Come dice lei stessa alla fine del libro,
"La vita mi appassiona ancora. Voglio salvarmi, non liberarmi di te."

Long time ago, I've read about this book. It was in my list for a long time, maybe because curiosity more than real interest. Then it happened that I've found it on sale in a bookstore of used books. Moreover in a Oscar Mondadori edition of a famous series at the price of 350 lire, the first one by Oscar Mondadori.
I knew it would be sad, and it was. Anne Philipe is the wife of actor Gerard Philipe. Their is a great love, crowned with two children and a house in the country, the place they both loved particularly. Then, in less than a month, everything is distorted. Gerard is sick of liver cancer, is operated, dies. This book is the story of their story and his death. Brief as a sigh their lives in the life of the world, but also the disease, the time they could spend together before the end. Gerard never knew that he was dying. Anne decided not to tell him to make more peaceful and serene the last days. She had to show him a serene face as always, for the first time she had to lie to him.
And suddenly, she was alone. The thought of him everywhere, but by the time Anne learns how not to surrender to the pain, but to remember his great love with tenderness, but with nostalgia. As she says at the end of the book,
"Life still thrills me. I want to save me, don't get rid of you."
