In the cover, there is a quote probably said by the author: "What I want is keep the reader stuck on the page". Mr McEwan doesn't need to want it, because he can do it naturally. This novel is so engaging you will read chapter after chapter without realizing it, because the will to go on with the story is too strong. It has been a torture to abandon the book because that trivial request of sleep from my body, expressed by a falling eyelid and huge yawns in the middle of the night.
In these pages there is thriller, the story of a city, a love story, the development of a young man in adult. And there is the incredible talent of Ian McEwan in mixing together all these things. There is a huge surprise in the final too, I was already sure it happened something else, and instead...
Every time, her books leave me breathless and that feeling of enrichment given by the reading of a very good book. Wonderful, as usual.
