Intorno a lei, mille personaggi tratteggiati benissimo dalla mano della signora Harrison: Jenny, la cugina disperatamente innamorata del bello e ricco capitano THomas, Edward-John e Augusta, rispettivamente fratello e cognata di Jenny, succube il primo di una moglie antipatica e avida; i signori Leigh-Perrot, tanto ricchi quanto gentili e benvoluti... una umanità tanto varia quanto interessante.
L'unica cosa che davvero mi lascia un po' così é il titolo... leggo che c'é un intento scherzoso dietro la sua scelta... sono probabilmente l'unica a non averlo capito.

The food for thought of this beautiful novel is the secret diary of Miss Jenny, the cousin of the more famous Jane Austen. It's the story of a young and lively Jane, already in passion with writing, human relationships and bad habits and virtues of her contemporaries. Miss Austen is not yet the old maid that we imagine from her unique exemplare of picture, but is a modern girl, brave and a bit insolent, that has no problem in flirting with other girls beaus, in stopping a trial and helping young girls.
Around her, a lot of characters so well pictured by the lucky pen of Mrs Harrison: Jenny, the cousin desperately in love with the handsome and rich Captain Thomas, Edward-John and Augusta, Jenny's brother and sister-in-law, the first one dominated by his unpleasant and greedy wife; Mr and Mrs Leigh-Parrot, as rich as kind and well-liked... characters as various as interesting.
The only thing that let me a bit unsure is the Italian title... I read that there is funny aim behind that choice... I am probably the only one that didn't understand it.
