In questo romanzo, Rosella Postorino racconta la storia di una di loro, con il marito al fronte, residente nella casa dei suoceri, senza figli. Con lei, viviamo la vita quotidiana, le sue compagne, la vita nascosta, i rapporti con gli uomini. Rosa è sposata ma l'incontro con un affascinante e misterioso tenente la cambierà profondamente...
Ho dato tre stelle perchè, per quanto il libro mi sia piaciuto, non mi ha catturato completamente. Ho apprezzato enormemente la ricostruzione storica di quel momento, l'atmosfera che si respirava, la segretezza e il vivere sempre in stato di allerta di chiunque. Nessuno è immune, nemmeno chi, di classe più elevata, potrebbe sembrarlo.
Ma dall'altra parte ho trovato la storia di Rosa abbastanza scontata, come se bastasse l'incontro stile romanzetto rosa con un affascinante tenente per renderla interessante. Sarebbe stato molto più appassionante leggere la storia di una qualunque delle sue colleghe, tra le quali spicca Elfriede.
Insomma, intenzioni lodevoli, svolgimento un po' meno.
Libro comunque interessante, consiglio di leggerlo anche solo per conoscere meglio questa figura di cui non si parla nei libri di storia.

Rosa Sauer is the fictional alter ego of one of Hitler's real tasters. German women, generally taken from the lower and unlucky categories, paid to act as guinea pigs to the food prepared for the Fuhrer, the wall between him and the death by poisoning.
In this novel, Rosella Postorino tells the story of one of them, with her husband at the front, residing in the house of her in-laws, without children. With her, we live everyday life, her companions, her hidden life, her relationships with men. Rosa is married but the encounter with a charming and mysterious lieutenant will change her deeply...
I gave three stars because, as much as I liked the book, it didn't capture me completely. I greatly appreciated the historical reconstruction of that moment, the atmosphere that was breathed, the secrecy and always living in a state of alert for everyone. No one is immune, not even those who seem to be of the highest class.
But on the other hand, I found the story of Rosa quite obvious, as if the romantic encounter with a charming lieutenant was enough to make it interesting. It would have been much more exciting to read the story of any of her colleagues, among which Elfriede stands out.
In short, laudable intentions, a little less laudable the performance.
An interesting book, I suggest reading it just to learn more about this figure that is not mentioned in history books.
