Ed è forse la spinta a migliorarmi lavorativamente, che sento molto in questo periodo, che mi ha portata a leggere questo suo libro. Scritto nel 2013, è un messaggio di empowerment per le donne lavoratrici. Partendo dalle sue personali esperienze, la COO di Facebook dà una serie di consigli sulle più diverse occasioni che possono accadere nel mondo del lavoro a tutti i livelli.
Ho letto diverse critiche al libro, critiche che posso riassumere nel fatto che la Sandberg viene accusata di essere una falsa femminista, che gioca in un terreno maschile con le loro regole, e che parla soprattutto a un pubblico di donne bianche.
Non mi ergo a giudice di queste rimostranze, non conosco abbastanza il mondo del lavoro statunitense per avvallare o discutere queste tesi.
Per quanto mi riguarda, ho trovato molto interessanti le sue idee, ho apprezzato particolarmente lo spirito pratico, che ritrovo tipico del mondo USA e mi ha dato grande carica motivazionale per il mio percorso. Meno interessanti personalmente, e infatti ammetto di averli scorsi molto velocemente, i capitoli in cui approfondisce la questione delle working moms. Non essendo mamma e non desiderando figli, certe questioni, per quanto importanti e su cui esprimo pieno appoggio a chi viene discriminata per essere un genitore, mi risultano meno interessanti.
Insomma, un libro molto interessante di una donna che ha raggiunto meritatamente altissime vette nella sua carriera, anche prendendo decisioni difficili. Per quanto mi riguarda, un modello a cui guardare.

Not being a mother and not wanting children, certain questions, however important and I fully support those who are discriminated for being a parent, are less interesting to me.
In short, a very interesting book about a woman who deservedly reached very high heights in her career, even making difficult decisions. For me, a model to look at.
