Sono una delle fan della prima ora di Ester, seguita quasi con zelo religioso su Twitter e ora lettrice dei suoi due romanzi, il primo dei quali fieramente corredato di autografo (e presto spero anche il secondo).
In questo secondo capitolo, Olivia Marni, avvocato, si trasferisce dall'amata Napoli a Milano, per seguire Luca, il suo compagno, che lì si trasferisce per seguire l'ex moglie e i figli. Se il primo libro era la vita di una single e i suoi errori, questo è la vita di una che ora una famiglia ce l'ha imposta, e che deve abituarsi ai ritmi della vita in coppia, con i suoi pro e i suoi contro.
Idilliaco non è certo nè quello nè questo quadro, perchè nelle favole è bello credere ma questa è la realtà.
Quello che invece adoro ed è il motivo per cui continuerò a seguire Ester, è il suo modo di raccontare. Questa analisi dell'animo umano, mai santificato e mai demonizzato, perchè come la vita, nessuno di noi è perfetto. E più si va avanti a leggere e più ci si ritrova, più Ester ti legge la vita come se ti conoscesse da una vita, e non come se ti avesse visto una volta per dieci minuti per firmarti il libro all'ingresso di un piccolo auditorium dove eri arrivata con mezz'ora di anticipo.
A pag 202, e senza spoiler, ci sono io, o meglio, c'è la mia descrizione esatta.
Quella sottigliezza nell'analisi delle persone che ritrovo anche nei suoi Tweet. Avete presente quella frase celeberrima di Salinger, dove si dice che alla fine di un libro si vorrebbe che l'autore fosse un nostro amico per telefonargli? Ecco, siamo nei tempi moderni e a me basterebbe WhatsApp, ma la sensazione che ti lascia arrivare a pag 214 è esattamente quella.

I am one of the first supporters of Ester, followed almost with religious zeal on Twitter and now the reader of her two novels, the first of which proudly accompanied by an autograph (and soon I hope the second too).
In this second chapter, Olivia Marni, a lawyer, moved from her beloved Naples to Milan, to follow Luca, her partner, who moved there to follow his ex-wife and children. If the first book was the life of a single person and her mistakes, this is the life of someone who has now a family imposed on her, and who has to get used to the rhythms of life as a couple, with her pros and cons.
Idyllic is certainly not this one or that picture, because it is nice to believe in fairy tales but this is reality.
What I adore and is the reason why I will continue to follow Ester, is her way of telling. This analysis of the human soul, never sanctified and never demonized, because like life, none of us is perfect. And the more you go on reading and the more you find yourself, the more Ester reads your life as if she always knew you, and not as if she had seen you once for ten minutes to sign the book at the entrance of a small auditorium where you had arrived half an hour early.
On page 202, and without spoiler, there is me, or rather, there is my exact description.
That subtlety in the analysis of the people that I also find in her Tweets. Do you know that famous phrase by Salinger, where it says that at the end of a book you would like the author to be your friend to call him? Here, we are in modern times and I would just WhatsApp, but the feeling that lets you get to page 214 is exactly that.

Ho conosciuto Ester Viola su Twitter, la seguo da sempre, e il suo è uno dei primi profili che cerco quando lo apro. Ha quel quid che la rende diversa dalle altre, un misto di intelligenza, graffiante ironia, leggerezza.
Tutte queste qualità, e anche di più, le ho trovate in questo romanzo.
Olivia Marni lavora nello studio legale di Luca Ardenghi. Si occupa di separazioni e divorzi, soprattutto di clienti abbastanza ricchi da non rendere insopportabilmente misera la vita dei loro figli, o almeno da non dargli questa come ragione da grandi per lamentarsi della loro infanzia. E' un po' più che carina, un po' più che brava, bravissima però a scegliere il ramo dove svolgere la professione, a non innamorarsi di quelli che le piacciono e innamorarsi di quelli che non le piacciono.
Non è tanto quello che Olivia fa che ci piace, è come lo analizza. Maestra (o meglio, allieva dell'autrice) a dare il giusto posto ai casi della vita e soprattutto dell'amore. Nei secoli nel ricordo, la Legge Jolie-Pitt, il riequilibramento del cosmo terrestre.
Ho perso il conto di quante volte durante la lettura sono sbiancata e mi sono guardata intorno perchè pensavo stesse parlando di me. Non penserò mai più che sia la Cia, l'Fbi o il Kgb a leggere le mie chat WhatsApp, perchè sono sicura che lo fa Ester Viola.
Da leggere, senza se e senza ma. Bravissima!

I've met Ester Viola on Twitter, followed, and her profile is the first one I check when I log in. She has that something that makes her special, a mix of intelligence, biting irony, lightness.
These qualities, and more, I found in this novel.
Olivia Marni works in Luca Ardenghi's law office. She deals with divorcements, especially of people rich enough to not make their children's life too miserable, or at least not giving this as reason to moaning their childhood. It's a little bit more than pretty, a little bit more than capable, but very good in choosing the right professional sector, and in not falling in love with who she likes and falling in love with who she doesn't like.
It's not as much as she does that I like, it's how she analyse it. Master (or better, pupil of the author) in setting in the right place the facts of life and love. In my memory for century, the Law Jolie-Pitt, the counterbalance of the world.
I've lost the count of how much time, during my reading, I went pale and looked around because she was writing about me. I'm not suspecting anymore of CIA, FBI or KGB, because now I'm sure Ester Viola reads my WhatsApp chats.
Must read, no ifs, ands, or buts. Very good!
