marzo 2014

See you soon, England!

102 English things to do

Between October and December of 2013, I was living in London. I am attracted by English, since the first time I have red an English novel, seen an English movie, fell in love with Shakespeare and Harry Potter, baking muffin, cupacakes and plumcakes. I love speaking English, I love hear this accent in my mouth, and I love discovering everytime the pronunciation of a new word. The adjectives and adverbs are fantastic, from Squeamish to Paunchy and Ghastly. Moreover, for a class structure lover like me, a nation that created the class structure, and still applies, is my Promised Land.
That's why, back unwillingly in Italy, I filled my suitcase with books in English, books about English people, books in English about English people.
This book stand in the last one category.
102 English things to do is a treasure of advices and ideas to being British. From "Listen to the Shipping Forecast" to "Apologize when someone else has almost bumped into you, as if it actually happened, and as if it were your fault", "Send a naughty postcard", "Visit the Parliament" and the most traditional "Have a nice cup of tea".
In these 102 little chapters lies England soul, the national character, manias, rituals and quirks of my beloved UK.
Reading it brought me back to what I did there, to what I would like to do but I had not time, to what I will do when my little Italian body will come back to the piece of my heart that I left in British land. Meanwhile, I prepare my next trip... See you soon, England!

*******************************************************************************

I choose this book for several reasons. First of all, it's the first novel I have entirely read in original language. Second, it's the first book I have bought in UK, to Waterstones. Then, well, I couldn't skip a book by J.K.Rowling. Harry Potter's saga has a special shelf in my bookcase, and a special place in my heart. And for sure Mrs Rowling is not only and forever "Lady Potter" but it's true that she'll be forever related to that saga and Harry Potter is the perfect business card in the reader's heart.
"The Casual Vacancy" is a more mature book and less related to a young target. Barry Fairbrother, the most influent citizen of Pagford little town, dies. From that moment, what was an idyllic English town become a battlefield, where everyone fights for that vacancy, discovering hates and rivalry. Nobody is happy and everybody fight for something better... and nobody is for real what the others believe.
I loved this book, the characters, their psyche more importan and relevant than the action, what agitates their mind and heart.
Beautiful, will be the first step on the way of fredoom from Harry Potter?

The Tales of Beedle the Bard

******************************************************************************

Who loves the saga of Harry Potter ad I do has to read these three little books. The seven books are completed and integrated by these three books: "The Tales of Beedle the Bard", "Quidditch through the ages" and "Fantastic Beasts & Where to find them".
The Tales of Beedle are, for the wizard kids, the same for the Muggle kids of Grimm's tales. If your parents told you about Cinderella, Snow White and Tom Thumb, the wizard kids grow up with Babbity Rabbitty or the Warlock's hairy heart.
The book has a main importance in the plot of Harry Potter. Hermione inherits this book by Dumbledore, and it will help the Golden Trio to understand the secret behind the Deathly Hallows.
The book contains five tales, wizards and witches are the main characters. As every other tale, they have a moral. The tale of hopping pot teaches the respect and the help that the wizards have to bring to the Muggles too, this is why this tale has been disapproved by wizards that believe in the PureBlood's supremacy... The same discussions about the tale of the fountain of the fair fortune, because in its ending is a love between a witch and a Muggle, and here it is a "worried wizard", Lucius Malfoy, who else? The tale of the warlock's hairy heart is maybe the strongest, talking about the research of immortality. Babbity Rabbitty is the funniest and the most complete, although, according to Dumbledore, the reader has to receive apologies for some contradiction and mistake about magical powers! In the end, the most important for her role in the seventh book,is the tale of the three brothers. The meaning of the tale is clear: nobody, not even a wizard, can defeat or avoid the death.
It's very interesting and important reading these tales, it's always good to remember that looking for your own personal profit, not being generous, trying to avoid death or love, is never good.
I can't avoid mentioning the extraordinary talent of Mrs Rowling, her cleverness in creating this amazing world. Sorting hats off to you!

Fantastic beasts and where to find them - Newt Scamander

********************************************************************************

The second one of the complementary little books of Harry Potter's saga is this one.
It is one of the textbooks used at Hogwarts, it is a list of the fantastic beasts in magical world. It goes from Unicorn to Trolls, from Mermaids to Puffskein, little balls of fur used as Wizards pets. It's not the most fascinating reading but it's a kind of memorandum of every creature met in the saga.
For sure, it's the umpteenth proof that Mrs Rowling has a neverending fantasy, she managed to create a world of fantastic beasts, a lot already known in the Muggles literature, but a lot invented by herself.
The funniest thing in the book are the notes written by Harry, Ron and Hermione. The Golden Trio, especially Ron, commented, in their way, several chapters, so we can imagine this as one of their textbooks and see them during school-time, breaking with a joke the long hours and the boredom and the struggle of learning the different animals and their peculiarities.
Nice and essential for every Muggle in love with the saga of Harry Potter.

******************************************************************************

The third and last one of the complementary books of Harry Potter's saga, here I am up against the Quidditch! I must admit that at the beginning I wasn't sure about buying this book... I wasn't really interested. But than I said that I wanted the all three. And so, here I am.
The book is for sure more interesting than I was expecting. It tells about the story of the wizards favourite sport from its birth to now. In the chapters, you can find the name of the teams, the different moves that you can do during a game, the most creative fouls, the most famous brooms.
If I am not mistaken, this is the book that Professor Snape seizes to Harry in the first book of the saga... so, if you are passionate of Harry Potter you have to read it and, if you are like me and your passion for this sport is more similar to Hermione that Ginny, well, maybe you are not going to tear your hair out but it will be an interesting reading the same. And for Harry, we can do this and more!

Bellissimo.

To be honest, I thought that this book was lighter than it really is. It's a sort of women's saga with the mainest character of all: Faith Ann Bass.
Faith is the heiress of the most important family of Bass, the little town in Texas that has been created by a forefather of her. Faith has always been the richest, the most admired, the most envied. But now, an old lady, she is alone and sick. Her (not too much) beloved husband died, her son died in a terrible accident and her daughter, Claudia Jean, is gone.
In addition, Faith can hear God telling her to give away all her stuff. This is the way the book is starting, with the dazed garage sale of the family's antiquity on the front-garden. Tiffany lamps bought for few dollars, mahogany tables, books, diamonds jewels, sculptures. Everything sold for nothing and the only explanation is "An agreement is an agreement". To help the old lady in her last day, Father George Fallow, Bobby Blankenship, the deputy sheriff John Jasper Johnson and her, Claudia Jean Darling. She will make peace with family's past ghosts and re-experience many memories hidden in her heart. A touching, interesting, moving, lively book. Characters never dull, linked stories, a life in a small town in Texas told in excellent way. Gorgeous.

It was a very long time I wanted to read this book. I've never done, maybe because I had other things to thinking about, maybe because I was sure that I was one of theme but still being well. Then there was a time of my life when my relationships, of every kind, don't make me happy anymore. It looked like I always put a lot of effort into it but that the thing never goes on or never gives me what I need.
And then, by chance, I found this book in a bookstore. In that moment, I was the "Woman who loves too much" and I finally bought the book.
It published about 20 years ago and maybe some dynamics are now more known and recognisable. But I think that a lot of stories in the book are still current in 2014. Every story is followed  by author's comment that follows the ways to coming out.
The stories of women that love too much have usually a common basis that then developes in particular way for every woman.
I found myself in many details of real-life stories, and in a lot of approaches that Dr. Norwood reports as typical of women that love too much.
I believe that it is a book that, if read carefully, could be of some help. Without waiting for miracles but really believing that first of all you can love yourself and then, in the right way, love someone else.

If I say "Charmed", what do you think? The sexy main characters of the tv show or ugly women riding a broom with a pointed hat.
The witches of this book are neither one nor the other. They are lovely old ladies in a lovely neighborhood in a lovely town. Perfect houses, perfect children, perfect hair, perfect lives. But the price to pay is the highest. For the trespassers, there is a punishment...
This book is abolutely scary, I want to say it. You fell the pressure rising while page by page you discover which kind of cruelties these women can do and how is the reality behind the perfection. Late in the book, you hope for the happy ending, you hold your breath and wait. The suspense is so overwhelming that you read the last pages without realizing it, waiting for the moment you know what is going to happen to Paula and Rowan.
A book that leaves you out of breath, plausible characters and a bit of horror.

This book will be loved by who, like me, loves the stories of kings and queens. From time immemorial, Marie Antoniette is a character that leaves a strong impression. We imagine her as a conceited woman and just interested to luxury and nothing much else. This book, instead, gives us the figure of a young woman left alone in a world, the French court, too big and too full of obstacles for the young "Autrichienne", difficult to understand and deal with it in the best way. My opinion changed after this book, her unhappy marriage with a cowardly little man, in search of a more solid bond in the court, her will of a easier and less complicated life. She wasn't a saint, of course, but not even that ruthless woman as she is usually portrayed.

There it is, this is the perfect book for me. I love it, I adore it, I devoured it, I would cry when it was over. But, I don't think it's a book that could interest everybody.
I have a visceral love for books, I love reading them, of course, but also touching them, smelling, knowing how they are born and why they die. My world is made of bookstores and publishing houses. In this book, there is the Story of Books.
There are the main publishing houses telling about their history, the bestsellers and the main writers.
From the omnipresent Giulio Einaudi, the great writers as Umberto Eco, Mario Luzi, Roberto Calasso, Leonardo Sciascia, Roberto Saviano, Margaret Mazzantini, Susanna Tamaro, Andrea Camilleri. It's a sort of encyclopaedia of publishing world and, for me, like Wonderland. It's discovering a lot of little good stories about authors I read, what kind of people they are, what they like, what they eat. A book to buy, read, take again, read again, always.

We must not keep speaking about "femminicidio". Never letting go without speaking about all women killed because "No" they told to their partners, boyfriends, husbands. Everyone that decided to live     autonomously and for this reason set free the irrational and insane men side.
This book makes us thinking, informs us. Elements on the percentage of how many women have been killed by their men. How many women suffer violence. Let us thinking about how much the idea of Love as a feeling of complete possession is deeply in our cultural history, in movies and songs and books. This is the most unreasonable side of "femminicidio", we almost find an explanation in killing for love, but these two words are in intense opposition. If we think that the "provocative" woman is the reason, that she asked for it, this is a part of that way of thinking. We have to begin from this awareness.
Michela Murgia and Loredana Lipperini speak about "femminicidio", from facts, in a journey between cultural references, true stories, the way of thinking of women and men. A must read, because we never talk enough of these subject.

It's reductive calling Margherita Hack a "great woman". Astrophysics is definitely not my subject, and maybe I'm the last expert in her job, but I can understand her value the same. This book confirms it.
The subtitle "As I see the world" is perfect. In this little book there is her idea of religion, science, feminism, Fascism, life and death. In my opinion, we have to do a division in three. The first part is about her life. The childhood, schools, the choice of study Literature and then regret it after an hour, the first jobs, her collaborations with universities of everywhere, the marriage with Aldo. It's really interesting to see the way of this extraordinary woman, discovering that she has been hold back in school in Math and that she didn't graduate with highest honours, it's nice imagine her as an athlete in many sports.
There are then a lot of chapters of "Hack-thought" about a lot of subjects. This is the most interesting part of the book, her memories, what she thinks, what she dreams, how she look at the world of today. She is a practical woman, a scientist, she doesn't approve some way to do politics, doing laws affected by religion, as the law about assisted fertilization and the living will. I totally agree with her, a pratical whay of thinking, told without beating around the bush.
The third part, I admit, by laywoman, is the part I enjoyed less and that I skiped. The most scientific part, the explanation about how the world works, the sky, the stars, the black holes. Sorry Mrs Hack but I didn't manage it...
Very good book, I suggest it to who appreciate Mrs Hack and in general, smart women.

Sinceramente... spero di no!

I am far way from being a blooming woman, but I think that every woman would like this book.
The writer tells about her life, from when she was a kid that wanted to become a dancer, to when she realises how much that weight in front of her can influence the way she looks at herself and the way other people look at her. So, there are a lot of tragicomic moments, her dance display with a very tight top, her love stories with that-part-lover men. Ironically and honestly, Simona Siri tells about her love/hate relationship with her breast, the struggle to find the perfect bra, the envy of her straight friends, funny job interviews with indelicate boss.
So, I think that every girl has to read this book. Because going along with themselves is so important, and the acceptance of your body get through to love it and appraise it. The writer cashes in on her breast with this book, now I'd like to ask if she really did the reduction she planned in the last pages... I hope not!

Adoro Alessandro Piperno.

I love Alessandro Piperno. From "With the worst intentions", I have read all his books and everytime I love him a little more. "Inseparables" tells the story of Pontecorvo's family after the events told in "Persecution". The head of household is dead, his sons, Filippo and Samuels, are now grownups. They are the "inseparables" and we follow their lives. It's told their rise to success, one as comic strip illustrator, the other one as business owner and textiles importer from Middle East. We know everything, their secrets and their private lives. We discover the marriage of Filippo and his infidelities, the long lovestory of Samuel and Silvia and his platonic relationship with Ludovica.
Together, the two brothers will know the decline, the dark side will bring them to big changes and to a complete twisting in their lives.
I have already said it, I love Piperno. I love his way to leading us in his characters world, showing us their most sordid aspects, looking at the world with a disenchanted lens. You would be feeling annoyance and repugnance in front of some aspects, but you want to go on, to see to what extent this so full of secrets family will go on. This book won the Strega prize in 2012.

C'è Alessandro Piperno a 360 gradi.
Quanto amo quest'uomo!

Alessandro Piperno, in my opinion, is a literary genius. He's great, sooo great. Sorry sorry if my reviews of his books are absolutely not-impartial.
I discovered by fortune his books years ago. "With the worst intentions" captured my imagination and, at the end of the book, it was at the top of my Favourites List. "Persecution" and "Inseparables" gave me sadness and compassion. Everytime I find an article of him I read it with extremely care, enjoying very word, adverb, every rare and precious noun. That so well-finished prose, so wisely chiseled, that display of magniloquence and erudition, I love it. At the same way, I love that talking about himself and the books he loves, and himself through the book he loves and the book he loves through himself, that irony, that sarcasm, that "brutality".
In this book, there is Piperno at 360 degrees. There are his literary passions, his story of writer, his personal life, literary critics, the enthusiasm of who knows authors down pat and rattles off characters and quotes, as for him Philip Roth and Marcel Proust. There are Kafka, Flaubert, Balzac, Mallermè.
The perfect book. I love this man!

Anne Boleyn is the most famous wife of Henry the 8th. It is obviously because the fact that made her arising: the England's schism, the division between Roman Church and English Church and the religious power completely in the King's hands. Anne was the triggering event of the mayhem that brought the country to a sudden change. As Helen of Troy, by reason of Anne's a man was ready to war and run against bigger countries.
But Anne is also the woman who gave birth to the most powerful Queen of all-time, Elizabeth the First. Henry the 8th, in his thirst for a male heir, probably would never imagine that his real heir, who brought England to glory and power, is going to be Anne Boleyn's baby, that baby who wasn't a baby boy and this was her only sin.
This book is almost a conversation between mother and daughter, Anne and Elizabeth. Elizabeth is at the beginning of her reign, she looks determined but really, she is unsure on the inside and impulsive. One day, the woman who was servant and friend of Anne during these days in the Tower of London, gives her Anne's secret diary. And Elizabeth discovers the life of that mother, whose name wasn't pronounced in years, whose reputation of witch and betrayer was forced to believe. Following Anne's words, Elizabeth learns how to understand the plots and the betrayals behind a great power, and the main lesson: never completely trust men, never give up your soul, always being aware of your value and being confident, in a world ruled by men.
Anne Boleyn's character always fascinates me. I probably might be biased because I'm fascinated by the story and every single member of English monarchy. For sure, I can't call Anne Boleyn's intelligence into question, she arrived at the edge thanks to her brain and appeal. I formed an opinion from this book and I reckon that, what destroys her is something she couldn't fight against: give birth to a male heir. Henry the 8th was obsessed by his progeny and his wives, except Jane Seymour, paid the penalty of being unable to give him a male heir. Anne, for a sin that isn't a sin, paid. And, in this book,  the figure of the man, related to woman's, falls to pieces, the ruthlessness of Henry and the double-face of Robert Dudley. Elizabeth was a great Queen without a man by her side.

Marie Sharp is a lovely English lady, it's a pleasure to meet her in the days before her 60th birthday. Retired teacher, divorced and mother of a son, Mrs Sharp doesn't have the slightest intention to pretend to being more younger and, actually, she is looking forward to being 60! She begins to try every little pleasure, like free tickets for tram and buses and free drugs. There are a lot of new changes for her, a new and lovely new life coming and an old friend going away...

A lovely book, a kind and lively main character, a history to tell and a present day full of events, friends and news to explore, a real lady to follow. Marie Sharp could be a model to take as an example, for her irony, her intelligence, her grace and her will to fully live her age!

Bellissimo libro, bellissima storia, bellissimi personaggi.

I am really fond of English History. Their kings and queens continue to hold a great appeal in me. I reckon that this is such a shared feeling, it's very hard not being nuts on the stories of these incredible characters, owners of a limitless power.
One of my favourite historical period is for sure the one in which the Tudor dynasty arised at their greatest power. Henry the 8th and his six wives, the charming and unlucky Anne Boleyn, the powerful Elizabeth the First, their daughter.
This book is about the friendship and love between The Queen, Elizabeth, here pictured in her first years of reign, and her favourite Robert Dudley. Elisabetta is just become Queen, the memories of the time spent in the Tower of London made an impression om her mind, she is frightened and insecure. Robert is the son of a powerful Lord, he is the same age of Elizabeth but is more confident, to the limit of being braggart and bold. And, he is married. Their love goes on and on between mutual deceits, passion, a love hanging in the balance in a world where there isn't place for feelings and where England comes first of all.

I loved this book. Elizabeth looks torn in two, a woman overcome by a power bigger than any human being. The determined and heartless Queen that we've always imagined, at the beginning she was a frightened and insecure girl, she needed the help and support of her counselors and, most of all, of her trustworthy William Cecil.
I have to admit that Robert Dudley, for sure a very interesting character, is really hideous. Ambitious, selfish, two-faced. You never know if he is really in love with Elizabeth or if he use her by purpose. He cries for his wife's death and realize what beautiful person she was when she was just passed. With Elizabeth, he's moved by purpose and ambition, he treats her like a puppet because he knows he has a strong influence on her. And, let me say it, my nominee for Best Male Character goes to Cecil, no doubt.

Beautiful book, beautiful story, beautiful characters.

I think that is irresistible for a writer the temptation to give a worthy follow-up to a classic. But it's very difficult to match up with it. Mrs P.D.James confronted herself with the untochable Jane Austen and her masterpiece, "Pride and Prejudice". She didn't write on the same style, but she gave the follow-up her personal mark. Mrs James, in fact, is an appreciated thriller writer and, for this reason, "Death comes to Pemberley" is an Historical mistery.
The plot begins six years after the Elizabeth and Darcy's wedding. The couple is very tight and close and they have two lovely kids. Elizabeth is now in effect the lady of Pemberley and she is at ease with her new role. In the first pages of the novel, we find her in the middle of the organization of a Lady Anne's Ball, dancing party to remember Mr Darcy's mother. But, one evening, to perturb the quiet daily routine, a screaming and crying Lydia, Elizabeth's sister, in a couch arrives at Pemberley... a team comes immediately to the rescue and not far away Wickham is found, knelt down near a dead body, and he says it is completely his fault...
The competition with such an important writer is a demanding challenge, but I have to say that Mrs James got by pretty well. The style sometimes looks like the Jane Austen's one, without of course her lucky pen. The writer is more confident when she tells about the process, she is in her own field. The end is not taken for granted and holds surprises.
In the end, the book is well written, the story flows and its is as good as any other thriller. The characters are well-known, outline them is not a big deal.
Anyway, in general I am skeptical of retaking classics, but Mrs James passed the exam.

As you have already understood or you will understand, I'm the main supporter of good manners. I like polite people and sometimes I asm inclined to be overcritical, especially if someone commits a lack of respect. Well, these day you can't pretend some kind of already neglected attentions and unlikely we will have the opportunity to have a cup of tea with the Queen of England, having to comply with the court's protocol. But this doen't mean that we can conduct ourselves as we want, in private or especially in public. Good manners are a a sign of respect to the others but especially to ourselves. What kind of people we would be at our eyes if we let the most primitive feelings taking over us? Nobody likes sharing their time and space with a rude person. Moreover, being kind, give away to old people, say thank you after a nice evening together, don't be invasive in person or by phone, are attitudes that make us widely accepted and make us feeling well. Having good manners is an egotistic way to feel well. After this book, I'm pretty sure that the writer agrees with me. This is not an etiquette textbook, ma just, as the subtitle says, "The Case for Civilised Behaviour in a Barbarous World".
A book for who agrees with the subtitle and for who, maybe, is not polite and could take some suggestion from here.

Cheryl is a cougar, totally committed to her job and to occasional nights of passion with gorgeous but stupid men. Jackie is a femme fatal, she is an artist in Paris and is the inconsolable widow of Robert. Doris is a bored and overweight housewife, with a family that treats her like a servant and a past as a getting-in-trouble girl. They are best friends from high-school times, her together memories are so much and they are always there one for each other. The problem is that their personalities usually fight and the comeback of Jackie from Paris will bring new events, definitely savoury and spicy events...
A really funny and exciting book, full of events and twists of plot. The three characters are human, with their strenghts and their weaknesses, and always on the run with a new idea in their mind.
I've read it in one breath, I was really curious to know how would be the end of the stories of the women and the men in the book.
A very nice novel, to read in summer's afternoon.

Three couples of friends, a long past together on the shoulders and a future hanging in the balance for hidden secrets. This could be in few words the synopsis of a novel with the same plot of a lot of other books of the same publishing house. But if in the other books there is something new and interesting, this book is just boring. Nothing perturbing, nothing remarkable. The characters are boring and ordinary, too much characterized to waiting for any kind of shock. Say nothing of, to be absolutely rigorous, the one that would be the main character, Laura. A woman so boring and know-it-all and self-centred that I ended to siding Sam and asking how you can live with her.
To be honest... the most beautiful thing of the book is the model pictured in the cover.
Read it if you want to spend some days without struggling your brain, maybe in rainy days.

No.

It was clear in my mind what I think about this book from the first pages. I went on with reading wit the hope that something was going to change, a dramatic turn of events that would make me change my mind... No. I've read a lot of this kind of book, I liked some, some less.
This one... at all.
The main character is boring, the story is slow, no plot twist, an happy ending that I foresaw 200 pages before.
I can't really understand why people writes books where you immediately understand the ending. You already know who is going to be with Him, as far as how much interesting men the main character will date. And please, don't speak about plot twist, in this book I didn't find anyone, everything so predictable and boring.
The only thing I liked is that the book is set in the publishing world, even though the real publishing world is not so present.
I am not going to suggest it, you can go in the library if you really want to read it.

I didn't read "50 Shades of..." and, to be honest, I don't care. When people talk too much about something, I lose interest, and that book doesn't except. But it looks like there are a lot of Mrs James's emulators on this erotic-porno-chic current, and this is the reason why this book jumped out. The screaming headline tells "It's a true story" and this stands out at a first reading. The story is told by the writer's voice, like an oral (no two-way) history: gaps, subplots, flashbacks... but, in the long term, in my opinion, the most explicit scenes tend to be recurring and the reader goes on hoping for something... better. On the whole, it's a good book, I don't know if in the "50 Shades" current, but still interesting.

Freemasonry always fascinates and tickles my fancy. Maybe because their secrecy, maybe because the rituals, I wanted know more. This book tells everything about freemasonry. You can read about origins, how it is born and who were the "Founding Fathers". It tells the story throughout the years, and in the last chapter the names of the most famous freemasons in political, artistic and cultural world. Furthermore, a point in favour of them, there are a lot of pictures telling, more than a lot of words, every side of Freemason.
A really interesting book for who, as me, has always been interested in knowing more about it and who doesn't know it well and has a lot of question needing an answer.

Every "The 100 most... women/men" will be necessarily incomplete. This one too. Generally speaking, there are women from every category: scientists (Rita Levi Montalcini, Marie Curie), actresses (Marlene Dietrich, Greta Garbo), politicians (Indira Gandhi) and empresses Theodelinda). I'm not entering into the merits of everyone of them, of course. About the actress section, I'd like to know why there is Marylin Monroe and not Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly, not only they had interesting careers like and maybe more of Mrs Monroe, but even more they gave a significant contribution to charity. Or, the lack of a woman like Jacqueline Kennedy, an icon of style, elegance and class, a model to follow for the younger generations.
Another flaw is the descriptions quality. Generalizations and a vague description give you the impression of empty facts and no passion in writing the sheet. It doesn't help the size of the sheet for every character, two or three pages. Would be better to do just 50 names, but better done.

Sometimes we feel the need of this kind of book :) I've read this because the title, but it amazed me. The writer divides people into categories, signaling for everyone specific features and love habits. More, writer tells us about real people, for every category. The writing is fluent, the categories are easily related to our reality and the suggestions are sensible.
The nitty-gritty is that nobody would bear to being treated less than perfectly. It's definitely a good sense thought, but sometimes difficult to put in practice.
The subtitle, furthermore, is "Why the Right One is always the Wrong One", because we, most of the time, are obsessed by a particular person who is the wrongest for us. Who knows if this book could be an help for someone to split with the Wrong One... as for me, thanks for the book and the suggestions, but I keep going to do mistakes by myself :)
