Ricordo che con il libro precedente a questo, I love shopping a Hollywood, avevo raggiunto dei picchi di fastidio per Becky raramente raggiunti con qualsiasi altro personaggio letterario. Aveva raggiunto il culmine della sua insulsaggine, della sua stupidità.
Sarà che era passato un po' di tempo, ed essendo estate volevo una lettura leggera, ho iniziato l'ultimo volume.
Becky è definitivamente cresciuta. Non indulge più in piani stupidi, non si ammazza di shopping, anzi addirittura non sente nemmeno il bisogno di farne. Il romanzo è leggero al punto giusto, con qualche momento molto divertente, e un happy ending non troppo scontato.
Diciamo che, preferisco Madeleine Wickham a Sophie Kinsella, perchè li trovo più "profondi", ma ogni tanto un picco di leggerezza ci sta. Insomma, il libro giusto per una estate senza pesi eccessivi. Poi oh, se volete leggervi la Recherche in lingua originale, tanto di cappello!

I wonder how it is possible, as much as I hate the female protagonist of this series, that I have anyhow read all the books.
I remember that with the book before this, Shopaholic to the Stars, I had reached peaks of annoyance for Becky rarely reached with any other literary character. She had reached the height of her insubstantiality, her stupidity.
It may have been some time, and being summer I wanted a light reading, I started the last volume.
Becky has definitely grown up. She no longer indulges in stupid plans, does not exaggerate with shopping, indeed she does not even feel the need to do it. The novel is light at the right point, with some very funny moments, and a not too obvious happy ending.
Let's say that I prefer Madeleine Wickham to Sophie Kinsella, because I find her more "deep", but sometimes there is a spike of lightness. In short, the right book for a summer without excessive weights. Then oh, if you want to read the Recherche in the original language, hats off to you!
