Tramite lui, William Gladstone, figura storica, conosce Cora Pearl, altra figura realmente esistita, celebre cortigiana a Parigi. Una serata all'insegna della buona musica e della storia, due diversi modi di vedere la vita, un incontro da cui sprizzeranno scintille, sempre sotto l'aura della compassata educazione british, e dello humour britannico.
Un racconto delizioso, elegante. Due mondi agli antipodi, stando al lettore decidere chi vincerà la contesa.

William Gladstone, Prime Minister of Her Majesty under Queen Victoria, had given to himself the mission to redeem London prostitutes. So he used to walk the streets frequented by these young ladies, offer them his help and take them to his house where his wife would take care of them (not enough the eight children of the couple, I would say... ).
One of these evenings, Mr Gladstone meets Mr Walters, a profound expert of the world of prostitutes, though not in the way he would find the approval of our protagonist. Through him, William Gladstone, historical figure, knows Cora Pearl, another figure really existed, famous courtesan in Paris. An evening of good music and history, two different ways of seeing life, a meeting from which sparks will sparkle, always under the aura of the compassionate British education, and of British humor.
A delightful, elegant story. Two worlds at the antipodes, according to the reader decide who will win the contest.
