Marjane nasce e cresce in un Iran che cambia drammaticamente sotto i suoi occhi e influisce completamente sul suo mondo. Successivamente, vive in Europa e lì vede le differenze e le somiglianze di due mondi tanto lontani dal punto di vista non geografico ma mentale. I due piani geografici e mentali si intersecano e si bilanciano, tra squilibri e crescita culturale.
Per quanto sia un fumetto, Persepolis riesce a raccontare meravigliosamente un momento storico e personale dell'autrice tanto denso di avvenimenti. L'ho trovato una lettura intensa, fondamentale. Chissà, forse la stessa storia in prosa non avrebbe avuto la stessa potenza descrittiva.

Marjane was born and grew up in an Iran that changed dramatically before her eyes and completely influenced her world. Subsequently, she lives in Europe and there she sees the differences and the similarities of two worlds so far from a non-geographic but mental point of view. The two geographical and mental planes intersect and balance each other, between imbalances and cultural growth.
As much as it is a comic book, Persepolis manages to tell wonderfully a historical and personal moment of the author so dense with events. I found it an intense, fundamental reading. Who knows, maybe the prose story itself wouldn't have had the same descriptive power.
