Io l'ho conosciuta solo a 40 anni...

I don't think I know a lot of children's authors, but anyway, Roald Dahl is definitely one of my favorites.
When I saw this book, part of a promotion for which you buy two books from this publishing house at a cost of 9.90 euros together, I was immediately intrigued. I've read the plot on the back cover and it was love! By the way, I must admit, only later I linked the book to the movie with Danny de Vito!
Matilda is a little girl with a prodigious intelligence, at the age of 5 she has already learned to read very well and to count. Unfortunately, her family doesn't help her at all, on the contrary, they constantly scold her and don't pay her the slightest attention. Luckily, Matilda starts school and finds an ally in her teacher, Miss Honey. Too bad that the headmistress of the school is the unbearable and very bad headmistress Trunchbull! But Matilda is not only very intelligent, she is also magical...
I assure you that you will not be able to detach yourself from this book until you have finished it, very nice, simple, smooth.
Probably, for British children this is a story they grew up with. I've only read it when I was 40... But I'm glad I did! It is definitely the perfect book for us strong readers... whether we are 7 or 40!

The books transported her into new worlds and introduced her to amazing people who lived exciting lives. She went on olden-day sailing ships with Joseph Conrad. She went to Africa with Ernest Hemingway and to India with Rudyard Kipling. She travelled all over the world while sitting in her little room in an English village.
