L'ennesimo libro di Saramago che leggo negli ultimi mesi, in questo caso catturata da questa incredibile trama, soprattutto se poi questa incredibile trama veniva scritta nello stile di Saramago.
Devo dire che probabilmente è stato il libro più "difficile" che ho letto dell'autore portoghese, per le prime 50 pagine circa mi sono dovuta concentrare moltissimo per entrare nella storia, i concetti erano più complicati e la sua peculiare scrittura, fatta di frasi lunghissime e quasi nessuno stacco tra racconto e parlato, mi rendeva ancora più ardua l'impresa.
Una volta però che ho preso possesso della storia, le pagine sono filate via e mi sono appassionata incredibilmente alla storia. Devo ammettere che il motivo a monte di tutto mi ha un po' delusa... speravo che Saramago non usasse quello stratagemma, mentre invece alla fine era proprio quello. Cerco di non dire di più per non spoilerare!
E' per questo motivo e per la difficoltà nella lettura che ho dato quattro stelle a un libro che, per l'autore e per la trama, ne meriterebbe molte di più.

Yet another book by Saramago that I have been reading in recent months, in this case captured by this incredible plot, especially if this incredible plot was written in the style of Saramago.
I must say that it was probably the most "difficult" book I've read by the Portuguese author, for the first 50 pages or so I had to concentrate a lot to get into the story, the concepts were more complicated and its peculiar writing, made up of very long sentences and almost no gap between narrative and speech, made the task even more difficult.
But once I got hold of the story, the pages spun and I got incredibly passionate about the story. I have to admit that the reason behind it all disappointed me a bit... I hoped that Saramago didn't use that trick, while in the end it was just that. I try not to say more, I dont' want to spoil the end!
It is for this reason and for the difficulty in reading that I have given four stars to a book that, for the author and for the plot, deserves many more.
