Cheryl è una panterona dedita esclusivamente al lavoro e a saltuarie notti di passione con uomini bellissimi ma stupidi. Jackie è una femme fatale, fa l'artista a Parigi ed è la vedova inconsolabile di Robert. Doris è una casalinga annoiata e sovrappeso, con una famiglia che la tratta come fosse una serva e un passato da ragazza combina-guai. Le tre sono migliori amiche dai tempi del liceo, i loro ricordi insieme sono tantissimi e ci sono sempre state l'una per l'altra. Il problema è che le loro tre personalità cozzano spesso e volentieri e il ritorno di Jackie da Parigi porterà nuovi scenari in vista, scenari decisamente gustosi e pepati...
Un libro molto divertente da leggere e appassionante, pieno di avvenimenti e di colpi di scena. Le tre protagoniste sono umane, con i loro pregi e (soprattutto) con i loro difetti, e sempre con qualche nuova idea per la testa.
L'ho letto tutto di un fiato, ero davvero curiosa di sapere come sarebbero andate a finire le storie delle tre donne e di tutti gli uomini intorno a loro.
Un romanzo molto, molto carino, da leggere nei pomeriggi d'estate.

A really funny and exciting book, full of events and twists of plot. The three characters are human, with their strenghts and their weaknesses, and always on the run with a new idea in their mind.
I've read it in one breath, I was really curious to know how would be the end of the stories of the women and the men in the book.
A very nice novel, to read in summer's afternoon.

Tre coppie di amici, un lungo passato alle spalle e un futuro in bilico a causa dei segreti nascosti per troppi anni. Questo potrebbe essere in poche parole il riassunto di un libro il cui intreccio, lasciatemelo dire, è comune a molti altri libri sempre della stessa casa editrice. Ma se in altri libri si riesce a creare qualcosa di vagamente nuovo e interessante, questo libro l'ho personalmente trovato un po' noioso. Niente di sconvolgente, niente che mi farà ricordare questo libro nei prossimi anni, a parte forse per il segno che ne lascerò in questo blog. I personaggi sono banali e monotoni, fin troppo fortemente caratterizzati per aspettarsi da loro un qualunque tipo di colpo di testa. Per non parlare di quella che, a rigor di logica, dovrebbe essere la protagonista, Laura. Una donna talmente pedante e noiosa ed egoriferita che mi sono trovata a parteggiare per Sam e a chiedermi come fa a stare ancora con una così.
Sinceramente... la cosa più bella del libro è la modella in copertina.
Leggetelo se volete passare un paio di giorni senza sforzare troppo il cervello, magari nelle giornate di pioggia come queste.

Three couples of friends, a long past together on the shoulders and a future hanging in the balance for hidden secrets. This could be in few words the synopsis of a novel with the same plot of a lot of other books of the same publishing house. But if in the other books there is something new and interesting, this book is just boring. Nothing perturbing, nothing remarkable. The characters are boring and ordinary, too much characterized to waiting for any kind of shock. Say nothing of, to be absolutely rigorous, the one that would be the main character, Laura. A woman so boring and know-it-all and self-centred that I ended to siding Sam and asking how you can live with her.
To be honest... the most beautiful thing of the book is the model pictured in the cover.
Read it if you want to spend some days without struggling your brain, maybe in rainy days.

Di questo libro ho avuto chiaro fin dall'inizio quello che ne pensavo. Già dalle prime pagine sapevo già tutto. Sono andata avanti nella lettura sperando che tutto cambiasse, che ci fosse il colpo di scena che mi avrebbe fatto cambiare idea e invece.... No.
Ho letto tanti libri del genere "9,90 euro", alcuni mi sono piaciuti, altri meno.
Questo proprio per niente.
La protagonista é noiosa, la narrazione lenta, nessun degno colpo di scena, un finale che avevo già intuito 200 pagine prima.
Inizio a non capire perché si continuano a scrivere libri di cui capisci già il finale, di cui sai già che finirà con Lui, per quanti uomini interessanti la protagonista frequenterà. E non parlatemi di colpi di scena, perché io qui non ne ho trovato nemmeno mezzo, era già tutto prevedibile e scontato.
L'unica cosa che mi è piaciuta é che il libro é ambientato nel mondo dell'editoria, anche se certo, di mondo dell'editoria reale c'é ben poco.
Sinceramente non mi sento di consigliarvelo, prendetelo in biblioteca se proprio siete curiose di leggerlo.

 It was clear in my mind what I think about this book from the first pages. I went on with reading wit the hope that something was going to change, a dramatic turn of events that would make me change my mind... No. I've read a lot of this kind of book, I liked some, some less.
This one... at all.
The main character is boring, the story is slow, no plot twist, an happy ending that I foresaw 200 pages before.
I can't really understand why people writes books where you immediately understand the ending. You already know who is going to be with Him, as far as how much interesting men the main character will date. And please, don't speak about plot twist, in this book I didn't find anyone, everything so predictable and boring.
The only thing I liked is that the book is set in the publishing world, even though the real publishing world is not so present.
I am not going to suggest it, you can go in the library if you really want to read it.

Non ho letto "50 sfumature di..." e sinceramente per ora non mi interessa farlo. Come forse avrete notato, non ho ancora mai recensito un libro che fosse appena uscito nelle librerie. Quando si parla troppo di qualcosa tendo a evitarlo,e il caso editoriale dell'anno non fa da eccezione. Però pare che sul filone erotico-porno-chic ci siano vari emuli della James,ed è per questo motivo che sulla quantità è saltato fuori questo libro. Lo strillo in copertina recita "è una storia vera" e questo salta subito all'occhio alla prima lettura. E' come se fosse il racconto di questa vicenda fatto dalla viva voce dell'autrice, con le conseguenze di una narrazione orale: salti, excursus, flashback... a lungo andare però,considerazione personale, le scene su cui si basa poi il romanzo, le scene più esplicite, con l'andare della narrazione tendono a essere ripetitive e il lettore va probabilmente avanti nella lettura sperando in... qualcosa di meglio. Nel complesso comunque è un bel libro, non saprei dire se nella scia di 50 sfumature, ma sicuramente interessante.

 I didn't read "50 Shades of..." and, to be honest, I don't care. When people talk too much about something, I lose interest, and that book doesn't except. But it looks like there are a lot of Mrs James's emulators on this erotic-porno-chic current, and this is the reason why this book jumped out. The screaming headline tells "It's a true story" and this stands out at a first reading. The story is told by the writer's voice, like an oral (no two-way) history: gaps, subplots, flashbacks... but, in the long term, in my opinion, the most explicit scenes tend to be recurring and the reader goes on hoping for something... better. On the whole, it's a good book, I don't know if in the "50 Shades" current, but still interesting.

La Massoneria é un mondo che mi ha sempre affascinato e incuriosito. Sarà per la loro segretezza, sarà per i rituali che li accompagnano, ho sempre voluto saperne di più. Questo libro rappresenta sicuramente la base delle conoscenze sulla massoneria. In questo libro si trovano le origini, come é nata e chi sono stati i "padri fondatori". Si narra la storia attraverso gli anni, con un capitolo, l'ultimo, che riporta i nomi dei più celebri appartenenti all'ordine nel mondo politico, artistico, intellettuale. Inoltre, vi sono pagine interessanti su quella che é la base della Massoneria: la divisione in gradi, l'abbigliamento, le regole dell'ordine, i luoghi. Vi si trova descritto il tempio della loggia, gli attestati che certificano i passaggi di grado, i simboli a cui si riferiscono. Inoltre, un punto sicuramente a loro favore, ci sono moltissime fotografie che raccontano, meglio di tante parole, ogni aspetto del mondo massonico.
Un libro davvero molto interessante per chi, come me, é sempre stato incuriosito da questo mondo e per chi non lo conosce bene e ha mille domande a cui trovare una risposta.

 Freemasonry always fascinates and tickles my fancy. Maybe because their secrecy, maybe because the rituals, I wanted know more. This book tells everything about freemasonry. You can read about origins, how it is born and who were the "Founding Fathers". It tells the story throughout the years, and in the last chapter the names of the most famous freemasons in political, artistic and cultural world. Furthermore, a point in favour of them, there are a lot of pictures telling, more than a lot of words, every side of Freemason.
A really interesting book for who, as me, has always been interested in knowing more about it and who doesn't know it well and has a lot of question needing an answer.

Ogni raccolta del genere "I 100 uomini/donne più..." sarà sempre per forza di cose incompleta. E questa non sfugge alla regola. A grandi linee, ci sono rappresentanti di tutte le categorie: scienziate come la Montalcini e Marie Curie, attrici come Marlene Dietrich e Greta Garbo, politiche come Indirà Gandhi e imperatrici come Teodolinda. Non sto certo a discutere sui meriti di ognuna di loro, chiaro a tutte. Per quanto riguarda la sezione dedicata alle attrici, però, mi chiedo come mai sia presente Marilyn Monroe e non Audrey Hepburn o Grace Kelly, che non solo hanno avuto una carriera cinematografica interessante come e più della signorina Monroe, ma che inoltre hanno dato un contributo significativo nell'ambito della solidarietà e della cultura. Oppure, la mancanza di una donna come Jacqueline Kennedy, un modello di stile, eleganza e classe difficilmente raggiungibile e che potrebbe rappresentare un'icona da seguire per le generazioni più giovani.
Un'altra pecca che ho riscontrato é nella qualità delle descrizioni di ognuna. Linee generali e una descrizione nebulosa e mai incisiva che ti da l'impressione di dati vuoti e senza nessuna passione nello scriverne la scheda. Ammetto però che sicuramente la dimensione concessa a ogni personaggio, due, massimo tre pagine, non aiuta di certo a fare un quadro più completo. Magari a volte sarebbe meglio fermarsi a 50 nomi, ma fatti meglio.

 Every "The 100 most... women/men" will be necessarily incomplete. This one too. Generally speaking, there are women from every category: scientists (Rita Levi Montalcini, Marie Curie), actresses (Marlene Dietrich, Greta Garbo), politicians (Indira Gandhi) and empresses Theodelinda). I'm not entering into the merits of everyone of them, of course. About the actress section, I'd like to know why there is Marylin Monroe and not Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly, not only they had interesting careers like and maybe more of Mrs Monroe, but even more they gave a significant contribution to charity. Or, the lack of a woman like Jacqueline Kennedy, an icon of style, elegance and class, a model to follow for the younger generations.
Another flaw is the descriptions quality. Generalizations and a vague description give you the impression of empty facts and no passion in writing the sheet. It doesn't help the size of the sheet for every character, two or three pages. Would be better to do just 50 names, but better done.

Ogni tanto anche questi libri ci vogliono :) l'ho letto più per la curiosità nata dal titolo che per altro, ma mi ha stupita. L'autore divide i "soggetti" in diverse categorie, di ognuna segnalando i tratti specifici e le abitudini amatorie. Inoltre, per ogni categoria ci sono dei personaggi, di cui l'autore ci dice essere davvero reali, di cui si raccontano le vicende. La scrittura è scorrevole, le categorie di personaggi sono facilmente riportabili nella realtà di ognuno di noi e i consigli riportati sono tutti decisamente di buon senso. Il succo del discorso è che nessuno dovrebbe sopportare di essere trattato meno che perfettamente. Il che è decisamente un pensiero di buon senso nel mondo, magari a volte difficile da mettere in pratica, ma sicuramente un buon consiglio.
Del resto il sopratitolo (in questo caso) recita proprio: "Perchè quello giusto è sempre quello sbagliato", perchè siamo noi che, per la maggior parte delle volte, ci fissiamo su una particolare persona che si rivela la persona più sbagliata per noi. Chissà che questo libriccino non aiuti qualcuno a uscire davvero dalla relazione sbagliata... per quanto mi riguarda, per quanto abbia apprezzato il libro e i suoi consigli, credo che continuerò a sbagliare di testa mia :)

 Sometimes we feel the need of this kind of book :) I've read this because the title, but it amazed me. The writer divides people into categories, signaling for everyone specific features and love habits. More, writer tells us about real people, for every category. The writing is fluent, the categories are easily related to our reality and the suggestions are sensible.
The nitty-gritty is that nobody would bear to being treated less than perfectly. It's definitely a good sense thought, but sometimes difficult to put in practice.
The subtitle, furthermore, is "Why the Right One is always the Wrong One", because we, most of the time, are obsessed by a particular person who is the wrongest for us. Who knows if this book could be an help for someone to split with the Wrong One... as for me, thanks for the book and the suggestions, but I keep going to do mistakes by myself :)
