Questo é stato uno dei motivi per cui ho scelto di leggere questo libro. Il connubio di antropologia, vita vera e quella vita un po' sognata da tutti era nuovo e interessante. Le donne dell'Upper East Side, che conoscevo solo per il telefilm Gossip Girl, studiate nei loro comportamenti. In questo caso, una parte ben precisa, quella delle mamme. E così scopriamo che la scelta dell'asilo é fondamentale, che fare nuove amicizie é difficilissimo, che i party tra mamme non sono roba da tramezzini e CocaCola. Ma anche che assomigliare al "branco" é un processo inarrestabile e che conquistare una Birkin é difficilissimo ma fondamentale per affrontare la battaglie di ogni giorno.
Un libro tra la narrativa più leggera e un trattato di antropologia. Uno sguardo a questa materia nuovo e lontano dai noiosi tomi sulle abitudini sessuali di popolazioni di cui nessuno aveva mai sentito parlare prima. Assolutamente consigliato.

I graduated a few years ago in cultural anthropology and even if then I worked in another field, my interest in the subject is still here.
This has been one of the reason why I chose this book. The union of anthropology, real life and that dreamy real life is new and interesting. Upper East Side's women, known just thanks to the tv show Gossip Girl, their behaviours studied in details. This essay is specifically dedicated to the mums. So we discover that choosing the right kindergarten in fundamental, meeting new friends is very difficult, the food served at the mums' parties is not Coke and sandwiches. But being like the "bunch" is an unstoppable process and conquering a Birkin bag is very difficult but fundamental to deal with the every day fightings.
A book between the lightest narrative and a work of anthropology. A look to this subject new and far from those boring volumes about the sexual habits of unknown populations. I suggest it.
