Claudia Roth Pierpoint conosceva personalmente il grande autore di Newark e in questo libro racconta in parallelo la sua vita e i suoi libri. Quanto della sua vita è stato riportato nei libri, perchè è stato scritto ogni singolo libro, di cosa parla e come è stato accolto dal pubblico e dalla critica. E' uno dei libri più completi scritti su di lui, superato solo da ciò che lui stesso ha scritto su se stesso.
Lo stile di scrittura è interessante, si legge molto piacevolmente, ci sono anche vari momenti in cui si ride quando l'autrice racconta di momenti divertenti, in cui Roth sfoggiava la sua ironia irresistibile. E altri momenti in cui ho pensato quanto mi manca e quanto vorrei fosse ancora tra noi, per sapere cosa ne pensa di questo periodo disastroso degli Stati Uniti e cosa avrebbe da dire al presidente.
Meraviglioso, leggetelo perchè libri così interessanti su personaggi come Roth non sono mai abbastanza. E perchè sono sicura che finirete la lettura e subito andrete a recuperarvi l'intera bibliografia, per non interrompere questo legame spirituale con lui.

Whether you love or know little about Philip Roth (if you hate him you've never arrived here), this is a book to read. But what the h*** I'm saying, this is one of the most beautiful biographies / literary critiques in the world!
Claudia Roth Pierpoint personally knew the great author from Newark and in this book tells in parallel his life and his books. How much of his life has been reported in the books, the reason why every single book has been written, what he is talking about and how they have been received by the public and critics. It is one of the most complete books written about him, surpassed only by what he himself wrote about himself.
The style of writing is interesting, I've read it very pleasantly, there are also several moments when one laughs when the author tells of funny moments, in which Roth showed off his irresistible irony. And other times when I thought about how much I miss him and how much I would love having him still among us, to know what he thinks of this disastrous period of the United States and what he would have to say to the president.
Wonderful, read it because such interesting books on characters like Roth are never enough. And because I am sure you will end the reading and immediately you will go to retrieve the entire bibliography, not to interrupt this spiritual bond with him.
