Ultimo libro della trilogia MaddAddam di Margaret Atwood. In un futuro distopico, scopriamo cosa succede quando l'uomo si sostituisce a Dio e decide di costruire una nuova razza migliore del genere umano. Giocare con l'ingegneria genetica in letteratura non è mai una buona idea...
Rispetto al precedente "L'anno del diluvio", qui il punto di vista è allargato a un maggior numero di personaggi, soprattutto Toby ma anche Zeb e Barbanera, il primo Cracker a esprimere il suo punto di vista. Scopriamo la storia di come si sono formati i Giardinieri, Adamo 1 e il suo passato. Ma soprattutto, vediamo interagire i superstiti del Diluvio senza Acqua, Cracker, Giardinieri e AdamiPazzi tutti insieme e come la loro convivenza va avanti. Assistiamo al rinascere della civiltà e ai primi semi di cultura nei Cracker. Un altro inizio del genere umano.
Tutti i pezzi vengono finalmente messi insieme a costruire un quadro unico. Rimango sempre affascinata da come gli scrittori riescono a creare tanti legami tra i protagonisti senza mai perdere il filo, farlo in tre libri separati è davvero ammirevole.
Come sempre, la narrativa di Margaret Atwood si divora pagina dopo pagina, impossibile staccarsi anche nei momenti in cui sembra "che non succeda niente", che l'azione sia statica. Una delle parti più interessanti è la psicologia dei personaggi alle prese con un nuovo inizio del genere umano... non immaginatevi grandi momenti filosofici, anzi, c'è molto sesso e molta fame!
Contenta di aver finalmente letto questa trilogia di una delle mie scrittrici preferite, adesso credo che passerò a tutt'altro ma è davvero una lettura consigliata!

Compared to the previous "The year of the flood", here the point of view is extended to a greater number of characters, above all Toby but also Zeb and Blackbeard, the first Cracker to express his point of view. Let's find out the story of how the Gardeners were formed, Adam One and his past. But above all, we see the survivors of the Flood without Water, Cracker, Gardeners and MaddAdams interact all together and how their coexistence goes on. We are witnessing the rebirth of civilization and the first seeds of culture in Crackers. Another beginning of mankind.
All the pieces are finally put together to build a single picture. I am always fascinated by how writers manage to create so many bonds between the protagonists without ever losing the thread, doing it in three separate books is truly admirable.
As always, one devours Margaret Atwood's fiction page after page, impossible to detach even in moments when it seems "that nothing is happening", that the action is static. One of the most interesting parts is the psychology of the characters struggling with a new beginning of the human race... don't imagine great philosophical moments, indeed, there is a lot of sex and a lot of hunger!
Glad to have finally read this trilogy by one of my favorite writers, now I think I'll move on to something else but it's really a recommended reading!
