Sanditon è un romanzo incompiuto, abbandonato dalla scrittrice un paio di mesi prima di morire. Sanditon è una località balneare che i coniugi Parker stanno cercando di rendere rinomata e interessante da frequentare. Vari personaggi, tra parentele e amicizie, arrivano nel luogo e, presumo, vivacizzeranno la vita dell'estate inglese. I vari personaggi hanno tutti delle caratteristiche molto austeniane, se mi lasciate questo termine: i loro interessi sono principalmente i soldi e sposarsi, se poi ci si sposa con una persona ricca, tanto meglio. La coscienza del romanzo è rappresentata dalla giovane Charlotte, l'occhio critico del gruppo che guarda e giudica con ironia le idiosincrasie e i comportamenti dei vari componenti.
Il romanzo si chiude con l'arrivo del fratello del signor Parker, giovane, di bell'aspetto e di intelligenza molto sveglia, un degno personaggio principale.
Per le poche pagine che ho, posso dire che si sarebbe prospettato un romanzo molto carino, interessante. Peccato che non abbia avuto altro tempo per portarlo avanti.

And now, with this unfinished novel, I think I've read everything written by Miss Austen. I've read books about her written by other people, but I don't think this matters.
Sanditon is an unfinished novel, abandoned by the writer a few months before her death. Sanditon is a holiday resort that Mr and Mrs Parker are trying to mare well-known and attractive. Different characters, relatives and friends, arrive in the place and, I presume, will juice up the English summer. The different characters are very "austenian", just let me invent a new word: their interests are primarily money and getting married, if then getting married with a rich person, that's better. The novel conscience is the young Charlotte, the critical eye of the group. She looks at and judges with irony the idiosyncrasies and the behaviours of the components.
The novel closes with the arrival of Mr Parker's brother, young, good-looking and very smart, a worthy main character.
I could read just few pages, but I can say that the novel would be very nice, interesting. It's a pity she didn't have more time to keep going on.
