Invece, prima di finirlo ho fatto scadere un paio di volte il prestito in biblioteca e per un periodo l'ho proprio abbandonato. Perchè? Credo che il motivo sia da ritrovare nella differenza tra questo libro e il precedente. Il primo volume narra i primi anni della scrittrice, l'età infantile e più giovanile. Era più leggero, passatemi il termine. Mentre invece, questo secondo é più maturo. Affronta il formarsi della coscienza di Simone, il suo pensiero é già a livelli molto alti e ne approfondisce alcune tematiche. Inoltre, la sua vita viene sconvolta da due avvenimenti storici di massima importanza: la guerra civile spagnola, poi, maggiormente, la Seconda Guerra Mondiale. É in questo frangente che, ovviamente, riflette e si confronta maggiormente con quelli che sono dei temi cardini della vita umana: il fatto che la vita é oltre quella che noi conosciamo soggettivamente, la morte, la necessità di agire. La fine del libro la trova più cosciente della necessità dell'attivismo politico e concentrata sulla carriera letteraria.
Un libro importante, da leggere per comprendere il percorso e il pensiero di una delle voci più importanti della letteratura e del pensiero femminista.

Every book with a deep meaning, had a troubled story behind them. I literaly devoured the first volume of this autobiography, and I thought I would do the same with the second one. But, before the last page my library loan was due few times and for a short time I abandoned it. Why? I think the reason is the difference between the two volumes. The first one is about her early days. It was "lighter". This second one is more adult. Simone tells about the building of her awareness, her thinking is already high level and she examines in depth some contents. Her life is overturned by two historical events: the Spanish Civil War and, most of all, the Second World War. At this point in time, she meditates on and confront herself with the main subject of human life: life is beyond what we know subjectively, death, need to act. In the last pages she is more aware about the need of political activism and more focused on her literary work.
A very important book, to read to understand the thinking's growth of one of the most important voice in literature and feminism.
