Il libro è costruito per capitoli, ognuno dedicato espressamente a un aspetto della vita nel celebre palazzo di Londra. Dalla più plebea "lista della spesa" (che tanto plebea in questo caso proprio non è) alla costruzione dello stesso palazzo, a come la Regina viaggia, da chi è servita, come si diverte, come, dove e cosa mangia. In questo libro scoprirete proprio tutto, da cosa fa la Regina prima di andare a dormire (scrive il suo diario) a cosa si porta appresso quando viaggia (praticamente l'intera casa!).
Unico difetto del libro, se così si può chiamare, è il fatto che non è una nuova uscita ma è indietro di qualche decennio. Nel libro, Carlo e Diana sono ancora sposati, Harry ha un paio di anni di età, la Regina Madre è ancora viva. Insomma, ci sono circa vent'anni e tanta acqua deve ancora passare sotto i ponti.
Probabilmente, però, molte cose sono ancora rimaste, soprattutto quello che riguarda il cerimoniale e il protocollo adottato nelle varie occasioni. Certe cose non cambiano mai, e per fortuna!
Libro assolutamente interessante, scritto sicuramente con un occhio attento e sicuramente affezionato alla famiglia reale, uno spaccato di una vita sotto gli occhi di tutti nei suoi aspetti superficiali, ma che rimane celata per buona parte dietro le pesanti tende delle finestre di Buckingham Palace.

I will never bing tired saying how much I am interested in the British Monarchy and the Royal Family. I love ceremonials and protocols, and they are both a huge source of satisfaction. And this books is absolutely perfect for me.
The book is build in chapters, evry one dedicated to a different aspect of life in the famous palace of London. From the "plebeian" shopping list (not so much "plebeian", to be honest) to the building of the palace itself, from how the Queen travels, to who is at her service, how she has fun, how, where and what she eats. In this book you will discover everything, what she does before go to bed at night (write her diary) and what she brings with herself when she travels (practically, the entire house).
The only one flaw is that the date of publication is about 20 years ago. Charles and Diana are still happily married, Harry is few years old, the Queen Mother is still alive. It's been a very long time!
Probably, a lot of things are still the same, especially those about the ceremonial for the different events. Some things never changes, thank God!
Very interesting book, written with a attacted and watchful eye to the Royal Family, a slice of a life under the eyes of the world in its superficial aspects, but for the most part hidden behind the curtains of Buckingham Palace.
