Mentre leggevo questo libro, ho incrociato un articolo in cui si diceva che Rachel Cusk e Karl Ove Knausgard avevano distrutto e ricostruito lo scrivere usando lo stesso metodo narrativo. E io ho pensato che è davvero incredibile come funziona la mente dei critici, perchè per quanto mi riguarda invece questi due autori sono l'emblema di come distruggere e ricostruire lo scrivere nel modo migliore e nel modo peggiore.
Quanto ho trovato Knausgard insopportabile, narcisista e noioso, quanto la Cusk è interessante e attenta al mondo che la circonda. L'unico libro di Knausgard che ho letto (e non ho intenzione di leggerne altri) sono stati un continuo parlare di lui stesso e di qualunque cosa facesse, nei minimi dettagli. Questo "Resoconto" invece è la storia di Faye, la protagonista, che riflette su se stessa e lo fa relazionandosi e raccontandoci la storia dei personaggi, diversi in ogni capitolo, che la circondano. Tante voci per un romanzo che parla della vita vera, di persone che si mettono in discussione, che riflettono su loro stessi e le loro vite e i loro rapporti con gli altri.
Nel fare ciò, non ha bisogno di grandi spiegazioni o pagine e pagine di elucubrazioni su un singolo pensiero. Pochi tratti e in poche righe riesce a descrivere perfettamente quello che vuole dire e lo fa magistralmente. Una scrittura magnifica, diretta.
Ho adorato questo libro. Capisco perfettamente perchè è diventato un caso mondiale. Consigliatissimo!
E state ben certi, che arriveranno presto anche gli altri due volumi della trilogia.

While reading this book, I came across an article that said that Rachel Cusk and Karl Ove Knausgard had destroyed and reconstructed writing using the same narrative method. And I thought that it's really amazing how the mind of the critics works, because as far as I'm concerned, these two authors are the emblem of how to destroy and rebuild writing in the best and worst way.
How I found Knausgard unbearable, narcissistic and boring, Cusk is interesting and attentive to the world around her. The only book by Knausgard that I've read (and I'm not going to read any more) was a continuous talk of himself and whatever he did, down to the last detail. This "Outline" instead is the story of Faye, the protagonist, who reflects on herself and does it by relating and telling us the story of the characters, different in each chapter, who surround her. Many voices for a novel that talks about real life, about people who question themselves, who reflect on themselves and their lives and their relationships with others.
In doing so, she does not need great explanations or pages and pages of speculation about a single thought. A few strokes and in a few lines she is able to describe perfectly what she wants to say and she does it masterfully. A magnificent, direct writing.
I loved this book. I understand perfectly why it has become a world case. Highly recommended!
And be sure, that the other two volumes of the trilogy will soon arrive.
