Il sottotitolo di questa raccolta di saggi è matriarcati del passato, presente e futuro. Il libro raccoglie infatti degli interventi di studiose e ricercatrici sulle società attuali che ancora vivono secondo il matriarcato. Dall'Indonesia, all'Algeria alla terra degli Irochesi, in tutto il mondo ancora vi sono tracce di matriarcati. Le donne che ne parlano sono studiose e antropologhe, alcune addirittura con una conoscenza totale di queste società in quanto vi sono nate e cresciute. E' una lettura illuminante su quanto queste società abbiano trovato un modo di vivere in cui nessuno è più importante di qualcun altro, dove i compiti vengono divisi equamente, dove l'equilibrio e il vivere a contatto con i ritmi naturali crea una pratica sociale millenaria che ancora resiste. Al contrario delle società patriarcali, dove vige la regola del più forte e del più ricco.
Da interessata all'antropologia e al femminismo, probabilmente una delle letture più interessanti che ho letto a riguardo. Purtroppo è solo una raccolta di saggi sul tema, parti di un progetto più grande, come il volume "Societies of Peace. Matriarchies Past, Present and Future", di cui questo libro di cui sto parlando è solo un'antologia. Sarà sicuramente interessare approfondire l'argomento.

The subtitle of this collection of essays is "Matriarchies of the past, present and future". In fact, the book contains reports by scholars and researchers on current societies that still live according to matriarchy. From Indonesia, to Algeria to the land of the Iroquois, all over the world there are still traces of matriarchies. The women who talk about them are scholars and anthropologists, some even with a total knowledge of these societies as they were born and raised there. It is an enlightening reading of how these societies have found a way of life in which no one is more important than someone else, where the tasks are divided equally, where balance and living in contact with natural rhythms creates an age-old social practice that still resists. Unlike patriarchal societies, where the rule of the strongest and the richest is in force.
From an interest in anthropology and feminism, probably one of the most interesting readings I've read about it. Unfortunately it is only a collection of essays on the subject, parts of a larger project, such as the volume "Societies of Peace. Matriarchies Past, Present and Future", of which this book I am talking about is just an anthology. It will definitely be of interest to investigate the subject further.
