"Non lasciarmi" é uno dei film più tristi che abbia mai visto. Anche solo a ripensarci adesso mi assale una cappa di pesantezza. Pensavo che fosse quello il suo stile, la sua nota distintiva.
"Il gigante sepolto", invece, é completamente diverso. È a metà tra fantasy e romanzo storico, con tutto il corollario di Cavalieri di Artù, lotte tra sassoni e bretoni, draghi e magia. Infine, una forte morale. Un messaggio importante, sulla scelta tra ricordo seppur doloroso e una dimenticanza più confortante e pietosa.
Il libro é un bell'incastro di narrazione e scene di azione, scorre piacevole. I personaggi sono tutti talmente diversi ma talmente belli, che sceglierne uno è impossibile. Ognuno con un proprio punto di vista, una propria immagine della vita, con uno spiccato senso del dovere, della giustizia e del rispetto reciproco. Probabilmente, solo collocandoli in un'epoca mitica sarebbero risultati credibili con dei valori morali così alti.
Il risultato è un bel libro, importante. Ho cambiato idea su Ishiguro. O forse me la sono appena formata.

How have a theory about a writer (inter alia, watching a movie based by a novel by him) and completely changing my heart.
"Never let me go" is the saddest movie I've ever watched. Even remembering it make me feel sadness. I was pretty sure it was his "style", his distinctive mark.
"The buried giant", instead, is completely different. It's in between of a fantasy and an historical novel, besides King Arthur's Knights, fights of Saxons and Bretons, dragons and magic. In the end, an important moral. An important message about the choice between an anguishing memory and a more comforting and merciful forgetfulness. The book is a beautiful joint of narration and actions, it flows pleasantly. The characters are of different hues but they are so beautiful, I'm not able to choose which one for me is the best. They have an own point of view, an own idea of life, a strong devotion to duty, justice and mutual respect. Probably, just positioning them in this mythical epoch they are plausible, feeling those so high moral values.
It's a beautiful novel, important. I changed my heart about Ishiguro. Or maybe, I've just developed it.
