Da grande appassionata di storie di fantasmi e in generale dell'orrore, mi piace scoprirne sempre di nuove. Quando ho scoperto questo volume del celebre scrittore inglese, uno che ha scritto La fabbrica di cioccolato, ho pensato che i suoi racconti di fantasmi sarebbero stati una lettura interessante e sicuramente divertente. In realtà, scoprì poi, non sono racconti di Roald Dahl ma una raccolta di storie di altri scrittori che Dahl ha raccolto e messo insieme. Tra gli autori sono presenti Edith Wharton e J. Sheridan Le Fanu, quelli personalmente che già conoscevo e altri e altre a me sconosciuti. Rispetto alle diverse raccolte che già possiedo, in effetti, sono quasi nessuno i racconti scritti da donne e questo è sicuramente un punto a favore.
Sono 14 racconti, di diversa ambientazione, nella media decisamente molto ben scritti e abbastanza spsaventosi. Normalmente, come per qualsiasi altro lettore, c'è stata qualche storia che mi è piaciuta poco meno, ma altre che invece mi hanno davvero messo addosso quella tipica ansietta che deve esserci in questo genere di letteratura.
A sceglierne due, direi probabilmente W.S. e Lo Spazzino, ma anche Harry. Nessuna delle storie mi ha tenuta sveglia di notte aggrappata alle coperte, ma è probabilmente perchè ne leggo e ne ho lette talmente tante!
Bella raccolta di bei racconti di fantasmi! Per chi è a digiuno di questo genere, un ottimo libro per iniziare.

As a great enthusiast of ghost stories and horror in general, I like to discover new ones. When I discovered this volume by the famous English writer, one who wrote The Chocolate Factory, I thought that his ghost stories would be an interesting and certainly entertaining read. In fact, I later discovered, they are not short stories by Roald Dahl but a collection of stories by other writers that Dahl has collected and put together. Among the authors are Edith Wharton and J. Sheridan Le Fanu, those ones I already knew and others unknown to me. Compared to the various collections I already own in which the stories written by women are almost none, this one is certainly a good exception.
There are 14 stories, of different settings, on average very well written and quite scary. Normally, like any other reader, there was some story that I liked a little less, but others that really put on me that typical little anxiety that is a must in this genre of literature.
If I have to choose two, I would probably say W.S. and The Sweeper, but also Harry. None of the stories kept me up at night clinging to the bedsheets, but that's probably because I've read so many in the past!
Nice collection of cool ghost stories, for who doesn't know this genre, a great book to start.
