Tre storie, tre donne, tre sortilegi. Caterina, la bambina rimasta sola da piccolina e che cresce contando solo sulle proprie forze e sulla propria intelligenza, e questo, agli occhi di un mondo retrogrado e credulone, fa di lei una minaccia. Nel secondo, Vittoria, trovatella, scatena la gelosia di una donna molto più potente di lei... e sarà la forza dell'innocenza a proteggerla. Nel terzo racconto, il segreto di una ricetta tramandata in linea materna arriverà, con il suo profumo, fino alle terre argentine, ammaliando chiunque si trovi nel suo cammino.
Tre storie affascinanti, intelligenti, scritte con una lingua talmente aderente alla realtà da sembrare storie del '600 piuttosto che scritte nel ventunesimo secolo. Ho apprezzato molto anche la nota dell'autrice alla fine di ogni racconto, con la spiegazione di come fosse nata l'idea e quali oggetti e quali storie l'avessero ispirata. Soprattutto per gli ultimi due, ambientati in Sardegna, è stato molto interessante scoprire aspetti del passato che non conoscevo.
L'unica pecca di questo libro... è che è troppo corto!
Bianca Pitzorno si conferma autrice elegante e intelligente, anche quando, come qui, scrive per gli adulti e non per i ragazzi.

Three fascinating, intelligent stories, written in a language that is so close to reality as to seem like 17th century stories rather than written in the twenty-first century. I also appreciated the author's note at the end of each story, with the explanation of how the idea was born and which objects and which stories had inspired her. Especially for the last two, set in Sardinia, it was very interesting to discover aspects of the past that I didn't know.
The only flaw of this book... is that it's too short!
Bianca Pitzorno confirms herself as an elegant and intelligent author, even when, as here, she writes for adults and not for children.
