Protagonista e voce narrante, è Roger Liddiard, con un passato nell'aviazione britannica e attualmente scrittore di una certa fama, grazie a un libro contro la guerra. Desideroso di staccarsi dalla città e mettere radici in un luogo tranquillo, arriva a Westease e si innamora perdutamente del posto, tanto da decidere subito di comprare un mulino e di trasferircisi appena possibile.
Ma non tutto è come sembra e il luogo che sembrava così tranquillo e sicuro riserverà spiacevoli sorprese...
Un libro avvincente, una trama mai scontata e un colpo di scena finale assicurato. Un libriccino di 155 pagine che vi attirerà a sè e non vi lascerà andare via.

There is no doubt that the inhabitants of Great Britain have some specificity in DNA that makes them particularly gifted in writing crime novels. Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie are certainly the most famous. And now, I can count Vita Sackville-West too. In the back of the cover, a quotation by Virginia Woolf, his companion for a certain period of time, which says "Vita yes, is capable of writing books." After reading this, I can only confirm it.
Main character and narrator, Roger Liddiard, with a past in British aviation and currently a writer of a certain fame, thanks to a book against the war. Desiring to get out of the city and put roots in a quiet place, he comes to Westease and falls in love with the place, so much so that he decides to buy a mill and move as soon as possible.
But not everything is as it looks and the place that seemed so quiet and safe will reserve unpleasant surprises...
A compelling book, an unprecedented plot and a secured final shot. A book of 155 pages that will attract you and will not let you go.
Very beautiful. And yes, Vita is definitely capable of writing books!
