I've started this book one evening, without any prejudice in my head. I like Nick Hornby and I am aware he always writes nice and funny books. I've stopped reading the back of the cover to not spoil myself the surprise, so about this book I knew just what I read a lot of times ago about it.
More than a novel, it looks like an article of a journal, one of those publishing short novels, like the New Yorker. It's a slice of life, it has not an end as I interpret it. It's very modern, meaning that tell about a man pilloried by woman who use modern means, as journalism and a massive dose of Internet. But, let's talk about these characters. Calling her "bitch" sounds like an euphemism. Ok, you broke up. Ok, he isn't the Prince Charming riding a white horse. But you are definitely a bitch, as well a little pathetic woman, putting him in your popular column with all his character and sexual inappropriatenesses. Let me say it, because she is that kind of literary characters who really piss me off. And he is definitely the most adult, between them. Amongst other things, without saying anything, he shows more her stupidity, he shows for good her inappropriateness. And he wins.
A short novel upon which I could write more words of how much there are in it, in this little book made by 65 pages.
